Frenkie De Jong: From Doubt to Redemption – Will He Stay at Barcelona?
Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. It is funny how times have changed and why I am saying this is because of how some Barcelona fans wanted Frenkie De Jong out of the club in January because he was having bad games on the pitch. It was not easy seeing one of the brilliant midfielders the squad had to go through that phase, plus some of the fans weren't making it easy as they got all over social media wanting the Dutchman to leave the club. I was never in support of Frenkie De Jong leaving the club and the heating he got from some fans.
It was simply because Frenkie De Jong was just coming back from an ankle injury that resulted in him not being at his best and I am sure it affected the Dutchman mentally because having an ankle injury twice in two months can cause a player to doubt their quality on the pitch which is what we are seeing now with Ansu Fati at the club. Ansu Fati’s recurring injuries caused him to drop form to this day, and it affected him mentally; even when he was on loan to Brighton, the Spanish forward still struggled to make an impact on the team.
Frenkie De Jong was for a while put on the bench as Marc Casado was ahead of him in the starting lineup in some matches, but this past few months, Frenkie De Jong has shown incredible performance on the pitch and has retained his place back at the starting lineup for the squad. Hansi Flick is a man of his word as he said there will not be favourites as only the players who work hard and follow instructions will be given a chance to play on the pitch, and I would believe Frenkie De Jong has proven enough of why he deserves to be back on the starting lineup.
Frenkie De Jong came out and said he is not worried about his ankle anymore while he plays on the pitch; like I said earlier, the ankle injury gave the Dutchman PTSD, and I am glad to see the Dutchman finally getting past the PTSD phase for good. The big question that everyone is asking now is if Frenkie De Jong will renew his contract with Barcelona. This has been pending news from the very start of the season as some say he may renew, while others say he won't, which is why the club must sell him to make money, as they shouldn't let a player like De Jong go for free.
Frenkie De Jong is currently the highest-paid player in the Barcelona squad and one of the things the board will address will be to cut down his wages I think both parties can come to an argument, but it all depends on Frenkie De Jong as if the offer doesn't work for him then he is free to leave the club. It is going to be up to Deco( FC Barcelona's supporting director) to find a solution that will make both parties happy in the end. There is still time, and hopefully, talks between Frenkie De Jong camp should have already kicked off, and then an update will be dropped by Fabrizio Romano.
So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
