Fermin Lopez First Champions League Hattrick
Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. The UEFA Champions League returns this week, and today features three notable matches for matchday 3 of the competition. FC Barcelona played against Olympiacos this evening and won 6-1, securing all three points in the match. Fermin Lopez scored a hat-trick and became the first ever Spanish player to score a hat-trick for FC Barcelona which is a good achievement for the youngsters. Fermin put up an astonishing performance against Olympiacos.
The reality now is that Fermin Lopez has already taken that starting role as a number ten from Dani Olmo without a doubt. Dani Olmo is currently injured and his expected return is not yet confirmed, but many Barcelona fans can agree that Fermin Lopez is more suitable in that 10 role than Dani Olmo. The difference between Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez is that Olmo can't take decisive shots when it matters the most and that chance he had against PSG that was blocked by Hakimi proves my point.
There is no way Fermin Lopez would have missed that opportunity if he were the one who had that chance in front of the goal. Dani Olmo is a great player and I will like to acknowledge the fact that Dani Olmo was a major player for the team last season and made huge impact in the squad, but this season he has been way off his game and he has to get back on form if he wants get back to that starting lineup, but as for this moment Fermin Lopez is taking that spot and he deserves to start more matches for the team.
It is funny now, looking back, Fermin Lopez almost left for Chelsea in the summer window for just 40 million euros. Chelsea thought they were slick to put an offer of 40 million on Fermin when they knew that the player was worth more than that amount. Deco should be given his flowers for this one because he was not in support of Fermin Lopez leaving Barcelona this summer, and Fermin, on the other hand, made the best decision not to leave Barcelona.
Now with the win this evening, all attention will be drawn to the El Clásico game this weekend at the Bernabeu. It is an important match for both teams as each looks to take all three points in the match in the pursuit of the La Liga title. Fermin Lopez will be a key player in that match. I do not doubt that he will be starting that match. Honestly, I am 100 per cent confident about Barcelona winning the game because of their recent performances in the league, so I am not getting my hopes up this weekend.
Then again, anything can happen, and Barcelona could walk out of the Bernabeu with all three points. It will be all to play for this weekend and may the best team win. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
