FC Barcelona Transfer News: Nico Williams Move To Barcelona Seems Like A Dream
The summer transfer window is still active, and we have seen some good transfers done during the course of the window. One of them was Mbappe's move to Real Madrid which honestly was not a surprise since the saga has been happening since 2022 before PSG found a way to convince Mbappe to sign an extension looking back at it now Mbappe planned to leave PSG as a free agent from the very beginning even when Real Madrid was ready to pay the fee the Frenchman still choose to stay at PSG that year.
It is all in the past now as Mbapp is already a Real Madrid player. Perez got what he wanted, and Mbappe also got his dream realized the only party that lost was PSG as they got no transfer fee for Mbappe. Speaking of PSG, they have been active in the transfer window as their plan was already clear before the transfer market opened, signing quality players in different positions this summer. Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen was linked with PSG, but the deal seems to have collapsed when Napoli asked for Lee Kang-in to be included in the deal.
PSG and Real Madrid both know what they want and how to get it, but I can't say the same for Barcelona this summer in the transfer window. Since the start of the transfer window, Nico Williams has been the top signing priority of Barcelona, week-in, week-out it has been the same story “Barcelona is close to an agreement with Nico Williams”. The transfer window is approaching its deadline, and still, Deco, the sporting director of the club, has not been able to convince Nico Williams to join the club.
Honestly, I am beginning to doubt Deco's capability as FC Barcelona's sporting director because when Alemany was the sporting director, he was able to close down deals and convince a player to join the club Nico Williams' due should have been done by now so the club can focus on other signings because it just seems Barca has wasted the summer window on trying to convince Nico Williams that he will still have a right back and defensive midfield issues to be resolved.
It is just embarrassing because now the club is looked at as a joke in Europe just because Deco has been pushing for a Nico Williams deal for weeks now. It looks more like the deal won't happen because there are reports that Nico wants to stay at Athletic Club next season and if that happens Athletic Club will bring a new deal which will increase the player release clause. Deco better pulls out all his trump cards to get a yes from Nico Williams before the week's end, and if there is no answer, the club needs to move on from the deal.
The crucial week of the transfer window is coming, and I just hope Barcelona can do the needful before the window comes to an end. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good day.
