FC Barcelona Secure Three Points At The Metropolitan Stadium

Source

Last night, FC Barcelona played away from home against Atletico Madrid in Matchday 29 of Laliga Santander. It was the last match of the week as we head into the international break, which will last for two weeks if I am correct. Every game in La Liga for FC Barcelona is a must win if they want to have a chance of still challenging for the title this season, so it was important for Xavi and the boys to go into the game and secure the three points.

Atletico Madrid is a strong opponent without a doubt. Last month we all saw how they pushed Real Madrid to wall and their high line defense is something else and most people think what other tactics Simone has apart from a high line defense set up against strong opponents in all competitions. Honestly, I thought this game could go either way because Atletico Madrid has been in good form and although Barcelona got the best of them at home I still had a little bit of doubt Barcelona would win in Civitas Metropolitan Stadium and secure the three points, but it happened last night.

FC Barcelona had a slow start at the beginning of the match. Atletico were out to destroy Barcelona, but somehow, they failed to get a goal with all the dangerous attacks they pulled out from their cards against Barcelona. FC Barcelona threw the first blow in the 38th minute of the first half. Gundogan drove the ball forward and delivered a through ball to Lewandoski, and the Polish striker played a low pass to Joao Felix, who hit the ball one time, and it went into the goalpost.

Joao Felix has now scored twice against his parental club this season in La Liga. It is safe to say Felix is doing everything in his power not to go back to Atletico Madrid and with the situation in Barcelona I doubt the club will be able to pay the fee Atletico Madrid will place on Joao Felix because I am sure they will be asking for something huge. The only solution for now will be to get Joao Felix on loan again next season, then next year's summer window. Barcelona can now try their best to sign Felix permanently in Barcelona.

The second goal came in the 47th minute in the second half. Gundogan again with another incredible through ball to Lewandoski, who received the ball, went wide, and played a shot on goal. The ball hit the bar and went into the goal post, increasing Barcelona lead at the Metropolitan to two goals. It's time some culers start apologizing to Lewandoski because some of them have called for his head and even wanted him out of the club at the end of the season. It is nice to see Lewandoski going back to his best form because he will be needed in the upcoming matches against PSG in the Champions League and Real Madrid in Laliga.

Barcelona scored the third and final goal of the game in the 65th minute. Lewandoski played a cross into the box, and Fermin Lopez headed the ball into the goalpost. Fermin Lopez has been incredible and I can say Barcelona still has a good gem in the midfield for years to come, Fermin still has a lot to improve but I see him being at the top soon. Barcelona ended the game, scoring three goals and conceding no goals thanks to another masterclass from Ter Stegen and the defense.

It seems Barcelona has come back stronger, but I don't want to put my hopes up only for it to get broken again. They should keep on winning their matches, and we see how things go till matchday 35 in La liga. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good day.
