FC Barcelona Beat Osasuna To Progress Into The Spanish Super Cup Final
FC Barcelona advanced to the final of the Spanish Super Cup after beating Osasuna 2-0. It was the first time Barcelona won a match by 1 goal in the last three months since September when they beat Antwerp 5-0 in the Champions League. The match was a must-win for Barcelona to progress to the final and possibly win the Super Cup for the second time in a row since they are the defending champions and it could be their first trophy of the season.
The first half of the match had everything but Barca were still having problems finishing in front of goal. Lewandowski missed a couple of chances and Ferran Torres was not effective during his time on the pitch. I think it's safe to say Ferran Torres is more vital as a sub than as a starter and I think Xavi should stick to bringing Ferran Torres as a super sub. The first half ended goalless and on top of that Raphinha picked up an injury which from what I heard from different sources said Raphinha could be out for up to 3-4 weeks.
It is not the best time for Raphinha to be picking up injuries as he has been Barca's number-one Right Winger since Dembele left for PSG last summer, so it's a vital blow for Barca and I hope he recovers quickly and helps the team keep winning. Back to the game, Barcelona opened the scoreline in the 59th minute of the second half and this time Lewandoski scored the goal from an open play which he had not done for a while. Big credits to Gundogan for delivering an amazing pass that broke up Osasuna's defence line.
Lewandoski's back on scoring terms is good news for the team and I hope the goal last night motivates him to get back to his old self again. Inaki Pena was solid at the goalpost last night and denied the Osasuna striker from getting a goal. It has been a good run for Pena since he filled in for Ter Stegen since he is out due to injury. It might not be a 10/10 performance for Pena but he has truly been magnificent and I say this again, give it time and Inaki Pena will rival Ter Stegen for the starting lineup on the team.
Pedri and Joao Felix came into the match later in the second half and their presence was truly felt on the pitch. Pedri is an amazing player and I would say that that boy is at the top level even above Bellingham. Yes, Bellingham has been amazing for Madrid with the goals he scores but that technicality and calmness Pedri brings to the midfield is different from Bellingham. The problem with Pedri is his fitness and once he can get in good shape and not get injured then he will be a total beast on the field.
Joao Felix was incredible too last night. The Portuguese delivered the assist to the second and final goal of the match which was scored by Lamial Yamal. Felix is a fantastic player and if he keeps playing like this then there is no stopping him from shining and helping the team to win. It was a good game and now the focus is on the final against Real Madrid this Sunday. It's going to be a tight match but I have faith Barca will go in and win the match.
So guys I am looking forward to this Sunday game and advice you don't miss it. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
