Cold Night At Stamford Bridge

Today marks a week since FC Barcelona faced Chelsea in the Champions League, a match that was horrible to watch as a Barca fan. It's remarkable how that match unfolded from start to finish, and it has made me question many things about the team going forward into the season. The team lacked composure before the red card was given as Chelsea were defensively better than Barcelona on the field. Barcelona created a few chances, and when a chance was made on a planter of gold for Ferran Torres to score, this guy missed it all up, and I still wonder why he is still a Barcelona player.

Ferran Torres' finish is poor, and this guy has not improved on it since he joined this club 4-5 years ago. This is no joke, but I am 100 per cent certain that if Ferran Torres had scored on that chance, the game wouldn't have ended 3-0 in favour of Chelsea. It is annoying to watch this guy miss up to five chances in front of the goal before managing to get one behind the goalkeeper. Why does he have to miss a lot of chances before he can score a goal? Hansi Flick, by now, should know that Ferran Torres shouldn't be getting that starting lineup for the rest of the season, but rather let him be a sub, as that is where he thrives more in the team.

Deco should by now be making plans for a striker next summer because I can't begin to imagine with Lewandowski gone how the team's starting striker will be Ferran Torres that will be unacceptable. Ferran Torres needs to work on his finishing in front of the goal if he wants to be taken seriously in the club. Season by season I understand why Pep Guardiola didn't bother to convince Ferran Torres to stay at Manchester City when Barcelona were going after him during that time. Ferran Torres needs to do better and Hansi Flick has already taken action as Ferran didn't start in Barcelona's last match over the weekend.

The Chelsea loss is on all the players on the pitch, and Ronald Araujo's red card was the shock of the match, but that will be in another post. Barcelona's chances of finishing in the top eight of the league phase in the Champions League are now slim with three more matches to be played. Last season it was a different case as the team was sitting pretty in second position in the table. Barcelona has to win the three matches left, score more goals and hope for a team from the top eight to drop points in the next three matches. It is a tough task ahead, but if it is not achievable, then Hansi and the team will start preparing for the playoff round, which won't be that easy, as there are tough teams in that section.

FC Barcelona will play at home to Atletico Madrid this evening and is also with a one-point advantage over Real Madrid in the league. This is a must-win match, and I am rooting for the team to secure the important three points. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
