Barcelona's Slip-Up: Shocking Loss to Leganes Raises Concerns Ahead of Atletico Clash

Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. The weekend fixtures had a shocking end as top teams in Europe failed to win their game this weekend in their various leagues. In La Liga, FC Barcelona had the opportunity to gain momentum towards their match this weekend against Atletico Madrid as currently they are both leveled on points on the league table. FC Barcelona hosted Leganes at home, and as most Barcelona fans thought, it would be a clean swoop victory as Leganes have been struggling since they returned to the league.

Leganes got an early goal in the first few minutes of the first half from a corner kick, and I was like, what just happened? It was an easy corner as nobody was making the Leganes player that headed the ball into the goalpost. Eric Garcia was the one who should have marked the Leganes player from heading the ball into the goal post but slipped and that goal caused Barcelona the three points needed to push up on the La Liga Santander table.

After Leganes scored their first goal, they went on total defense lockdown as they made it difficult for Barcelona to break their defense line, and when Barcelona got a chance in front of the goal, they failed to convert it into a goal. Lewandoski was terrible, to be honest, in that match because I could count how many times he should have scored, but due to poor finishing, he was unable to find the back of the goalpost. The full 90 minutes was frustrating to watch because I still can't believe that this same Barcelona team beat Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the space of one week about a month ago. After all, I can't understand what is going on now with the team.

It was not over yet as to make matters worse that evening, Lamine Yamal picked up an injury, which was already confirmed by the club that the youngster would be out for 3-4 weeks. Lamine Yamal will miss the big game against Atletico Madrid this weekend, and honestly, the team needs Lamine Yamal for that match. I don't know how Hansi Flick is going to do it, but it's time he steps up his game because if the team keeps playing like this, then the chance of winning La Liga will be nothing more than a dream.

There is still a lot of work to be done with the defense and the attack. Lewandoski needs to take his chances and make sure he treats every chance he gets like his last and gets more goals for the team. It is going to be a tough weekend ahead as Barcelona faces Atletico Madrid because that match is a must-win for Barcelona. Ronald Araujo did not play in the against Leganes, but hopefully, we will get to see them in the match against Atletico Madrid this weekend.

It is now or never for the Catalan giant and I trust Hansi Flick will get things right soon. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.

I hope Atletico Madrid will beat Barcelona, even though I don't expect them to! :)

Hi,
Well they did. On Athleti's current form(vis-a-vis Barca's current form), many expected a very tough game for Barca.

@iamchuks the concerns were valid and Barca was stung.
Cheers

It turned out as you predicted, and I am kind of angry with the result because the team played well, but not finishing up the chances in front of the goal was the problem. I blame Lewandoski for this loss.
