Barcelona's Setback Against Atletico: A Painful End to 2024
Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. The weekend football fixtures are over as we head to the holiday break, except for the premier league, which will still go on regardless of the Christmas holiday. Last weekend was not nice for all Barcelona fans worldwide, and I was a bit better with the result that came at the end of the match between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. I expected Hansi Flick and the boys to give their all and secure the three months to gain an advantage over Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, but it turned out the opposite.
The game started strong with FC Barcelona mounting pressure on the Atletico Madrid defence. It was a difficult first half for Atletico Madrid as they could not even hold the ball for a minute without losing it to a Barcelona player and, to be honest, I was impressed with the way Barcelona was playing against Atletico Madrid, but one thing the team still fails to improve on his finishing up the chances in front of goal and it caused Barcelona the three points on Saturday night.
Lewandoski, yet again, was terrible in front of the goal, and I can't believe the same problem Lewandoski was having last season has somehow continued this new season. At this point, I don't know if it is the best idea for Lewandoski to continue as Barcelona's main striker next season and if the board wants him to continue then they need to get a better backup striker who will compete with Lewandoski because if Barcelona can't take their chances in front of goal how do they want to win titles this season.
It was painful to watch the final minute of the match when Atletico Madrid scored in the closing minute of the match. I could see the players falling to their feet in agony, and I felt sad for Pedri because he was let down by the team as he gave a 10/10 performance in that match; he was even given man of the match by Laliga at the end of the game. Pedri is no doubt the best midfielder in the world without a doubt but some won't still agree with this statement.
Barcelona is currently third on the Laliga Santander table, with Atletico Madrid, and Real Madrid still having a game in hand to play. It's tough as a fan to see the team starting incredibly well at the start of the season to losing form now at this stage of the season. The second half of the La Liga season will kick in by January, and I just want to see Hansi Flick and the boys fight for everything until the end of the season.
It's going to be a long ride from January and I am looking forward to seeing how Hansi Flick and the team turn this situation around. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
