Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. It has been an intense 24 hours in Barcelona before the first match of the 2025/ 2026 season. The problem of player registration was the topic since the beginning of Friday morning as the club was working to register Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford before the match against Mallorca that took place this evening. The issue of Barcelona registration has been recurring for the past three seasons, and it's becoming a drag for many Barcelona fans.

There were reports that Laporta had to pay 7 million euros from his pocket to guarantee the registration of the new players, both this summer, which are Rashford and Joan Garcia. The Catalan goalkeeper Joan Garcia's registration was done yesterday, but Rashford was not done that same day, as some documents needed to be finalised and submitted to La Liga before the registration would be approved. The green light for Rashford registration happened just 4-5 hours before the match against Mallorca which was a relief as now all the players in the club are registered.

La Liga's financial fair play rules are strict, and this is destroying the lead as we barely see Spanish teams bidding heavily on players in the transfer market. The Spanish teams that we mostly see on the market are Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. There are many who will say it's just Barcelona that are facing these problems in La Liga, but other Spanish clubs are going through the same problems. Levante, for example, yesterday were only able to register three players, and they have a match this weekend.

Getafe had to sell their best center back for peanuts just so they could register players for the new season. Tebas is doing more harm than good in La Liga and this has affected the quality of teams in the league. Valencia, Sevilla and Villarreal, who used to be top teams in Europe, have suddenly declined because of the restrictions of the financial fair play rules. There has to be a change in the league soon because if this continues I doubt some of the clubs in the first division will be able to survive in the long run. It will affect their performance in the league, and instead of striving to compete for the league title, most of these teams will be focused on just staying in the first division.

The season has officially begun and today Barcelona beat Mallorca 3-0 away from home. It was a good performance from Hansi Flick's team and it still shows that the team is still sharp and ready to defend their title. In the past six years, there has not been a team that has retained the title, so the big question is, will Barcelona be able to do it this season? There are still more matches to be played tomorrow and I will be taking a look at some of the matches. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
