Good day everyone and welcome to my blog. On Saturday FC Barcelona beat Girona at home 2-1 to claim three points in the Laliga title race. It was a tough match to watch seeing that the team lacks that intensity and I am trying to blame it on the injuries because most of Barcelona's key players are out. The game against Girona was a match Hansi Flick had to play without a striker as Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski were out due to injury.

There was a clear sign of weakness in the squad and there is a problem with the defense as it looks weaker each game. This was not the case when Inigo Martinez was at Barcelona last season as there was stability in the defense that even got Ronald Araujo to see less playing time last season because of the beautiful partnership with Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez at the backline. It still not okay that Inigo Martinez left during the summer, he could have just stayed one more season at the club, but anyways it was in his best interest and he took the opportunity.

Since Wojciech Szczęsny took over because of the absence of Joan Garcia due to injury, Barcelona has conceded more goals and it makes me wonder how the team is going to fare against Real Madrid this coming weekend in the El Clasico. Szczesny has been horrible this season and that is just the truth and I am not going to sugar coat his performance just because he was okay last season. Honestly it's better that he will be leaving at the end of the season and the club can bring back Inaki Pena to be the third goalkeeper for the first team next season.

What surprised me in the match Barcelona played against Girona was watching Ronald Araujo play as a striker in the last minutes of the game. This is how injuries have limited the squad and just exposed how Barcelona doesn't have a good squad depth as a CB now plays as a striker. The beautiful part of it is that Ronald Araujo came into the match and scored the winning goal for Barcelona in the last minute. Now we have many Barcelona fans talking about using Ronald Araujo as a striker in more games and it's crazy that it could happen again.

Ronald Araujo even came out to say that he was a striker when he started his football career at a very young age, but was advised to move to the CB position. The Uruguayan came through for the team last night and something tells me we will be seeing him at that position again. The next focus for Barcelona is the Champions League match tomorrow which the boys have to win to get back on track in the competition after the loss to PSG. I am looking forward to the match and hope they get the three points.

So guys that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
