Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Ruleset Rumble

Greetings to Splinterlands players!

Today's challenge is #RulesetRumble. Rulesets in Splinterlands are modifiers that change the conditions of a battle. Rulesets can affect which strategies, cards, and teams will be most effective. Understanding and adapting to rulesets is important if you want to win games consistently.

How To Play with Rulesets

Before selecting your cards, study the ruleset and mana cap. Make sure to understand what changes. Then choose archons and units that benefit from or are unaffected by the ruleset. Next, if the ruleset disables certain abilities, avoid using monsters that rely on those abilities.

Reverse Speed

Effect: Low speed units attack first
Strategy: Use slow units. Avoid using fast units and units and archons with speed boost ability.

To capitalize in the Reverse Speed ruleset, I used units with speed of 2 and below. Because of the ruleset, I have faster units and will attack first. My units can also dodge attacks from slower units. My team is composed of Water and Neutral. My archon is Zeddica who only had 3 mana. I can use more units with this archon compared to my opponent who has an archon with 6 mana. The units I used are the following.

Yaba's Pickle

Yaba's Pickle has no attack but it has 2 speed and only 4 mana. Using this unit as against Commander Slade who has 8 mana will let me put more units in my back line. I bought this card from the market and I find this card very useful.

Lunaki Howler

A Foundation set member. It's an epic card that has 1 magic damage and 2 speed.

Chaos Adjutant

A Rebellion reward card that has 1 magic attack and 2 speed.

Quillstorm Mage

A Conclave Arcana card that I bought recently. It's a versatile card that I can use with all elements. It has 1 magic attack and 1 speed.

Ujurak Elder

A 3 mana magic unit that has 1 attack. It has 1 speed which is ideal in the Reverse Speed ruleset.

Mar Toren Trader

Another 3 mana card but this one has 2 archer attack. It also has 1 speed.

I have more units against the enemy who has only three. My units are also faster than the enemy's which led to my victory.

Fire and Regret

Effect: All monsters take damage when using Ranged attacks
Strategy: Avoid archers and use magic and melee instead.

The ruleset is straightforward. Avoid using archer units since attacks bounce to them. I used melee and magic units but the enemy ignored the ruleset and still used archers.

Giant Alpine Skink

I used this unit instead of Commander Slade because the mana cap is 30. It has 3 melee attack, 2 shield, 6 life and 3 speed. It's a capable unit in the frontline.

Vengeful Monk

A strong attacker in the Foundation set. It has 2 melee attack and Opportunity skill.

Shock Trooper

A double edged unit. It has 4 magic attack but also does damage to allies.

Chaos Adjutant

A magic unit with one attack. It has four life so that it can survive the Shock Trooper damage.

The enemy has three archer units in the team. This worked to his disadvantage as can be seen in the battle.

Noxious Fumes

Effect: All units take Poison damage each round.
Strategy: Use units with Immunity, Cleanse, Triage or Healing.

This was from our last guild brawl. I don't have units with Immunity or Cleanse so I took advantage of the Martyr skill instead to empower my Quora. I put Quora between two units with Martyr skill. She will benefit from the death of the two units making her overpowered. She has the advantage of attack, speed and healing against two strong opponents.

Conclusion

Rulesets add strategy to every Splinterlands battle. They challenge us to adapt and think creatively. By understanding each ruleset and adjusting your strategy, you gain an advantage over unprepared opponents.
