Hello, ladies of #hive.
Thank you for the welcome you've given me and for giving me the opportunity to talk about one of the points I still have pending, in community contest #240: languages.

My friend, I can only speak my native language and English. Not my native English, unfortunately, as I need to practice it more.

However, I am very proud that everything I've learned, I have done so on my own, through my own efforts.
Both for my studies at university and in previous degrees, I needed to read a lot of biography in English, and I couldn't. So I started looking for courses and books with which to learn to read this language.
Something that helped me a lot was songs. At the suggestion of a friend, I started downloading the lyrics of songs I liked and listening to how each word and phrase was pronounced.

That way, along with translations, I slowly began to communicate in English. I had friends during college who helped me practice my pronunciation and listening skills.

But life has taken me down paths where I haven't had to use this second language much, so I've lost some practice.

I realized this a few days ago when I was at the beach and went shopping for clothes. The only person present when I arrived was a Canadian woman, and when I spoke to her in Spanish (thinking she was the owner of the store), she replied in English with something I couldn't understand at first.

Later, after a while, I realized she was telling me she couldn't speak Spanish; so I tried my best and, little by little, I was able to communicate with her in her native language.

It happens that in beach areas, where there are hotels, the most common thing in the world is to meet foreigners who don't speak your language, but everyone understands that you should know how to speak English.

That's what the universal language is for, isn't it?

And besides, you're right. I should learn to speak their language. Of course, they should also learn to speak mine, since they're coming on vacation to a Spanish-speaking country.

Luckily for me, Hive has arrived, allowing me to practice English again. Perhaps this is the incentive I needed to start learning another language.

I think that maybe since I don't have much free time, I should start with a language that's easier for me, like Italian or Portuguese, since they're very similar to Spanish.

Hola, muchachitas de #hive.
Agradecer el recibimiento que me han dado y que me den la oportunidad de hablar sobre uno de los puntos que aún tengo pendiente, en el concurso de la comunidad#240: los idiomas.

Amigo que nada más que puedo hablar en mi lengua natal y en inglés. No en inglés nativo, por desgracia, ya que necesito practicarlo más.

Sin embargo estoy muy orgullosa de que todo lo que he aprendido lo he hecho por mi cuenta, por esfuerzo propio.
Tanto para mis estudios en la universidad como en los grados anteriores, necesité leer mucha biografía en inglés y no podía. Por tanto comencé a buscar cursos y libros con los que aprender a leer este idioma.
Algo que me ayudó mucho fueron las canciones. Comencé por sugerencia de un amigo para descargar las letras de las canciones que me gustaban y escuchar cómo se pronunciaba cada palabra y frase.

Ese modo y con las traducciones comencé poco a poco a comunicarme en inglés. Tuve amigos durante la carrera que me ayudaron a practicar la dicción y la audición.

Pero sucede que la vida me ha llevado por senderos en los que no he tenido que utilizar mucho esta segunda lengua, por lo que he perdido un poco de práctica.
Me di cuenta hace unos días cuando me encontraba en la playa y fui a comprar ropa. La única persona que se encontraba presente cuando llegué, era una mujer canadiense y al dirigirme a ella en español (pensando que era la dueña del establecimiento) me contestó en inglés algo que al inicio no logré comprender.
Luego en un rato, me di cuenta que me decía que no sabía hablar español; así que hice memoria y poco a poco, logré comunicarme con ella en su lengua natal.

Sucede que en las zonas de playa, donde hay hoteles, lo más común en el mundo es encontrarte con extranjeros que no conocen tu idioma, pero todos entienden que tú debes saber hablar inglés.
Para eso es el idioma universal ¿o no?

Y aparte tienes razón. Yo debería aprender a hablar su idioma. Claro, ellos también deberían aprender a hablar el mío, ya que vienen a vacacionar a un país de habla hispana.

Por suerte para mí ha llegado Hive para permitirme practicar nuevamente el inglés. Quizás este sea el incentivo que me faltaba para comenzar a estudiar otro idioma.
Pienso que quizás como no tengo mucho tiempo libre debería comenzar por un idioma más sencillo para mí, como el italiano o el portugués, ya que se parecen mucho al español.
