A new experience // Pistachio coffee

Greetings, friends of Cinnamon Cup Coffee. Today, I am visiting this wonderful community to share my experience of trying pistachio coffee. I was reading the coffee menu at a restaurant I wanted to visit and came across a unique option: pistachio-flavored coffee. It really caught my attention. Pistachios are salty, and I couldn't imagine how they would taste mixed with good coffee. On my birthday, which was on September 10, I decided to visit that restaurant I had been longing to try and have a cup of coffee, this time with a different aroma and flavor.

The chosen venue was Casa Olivas Ristorante, a beautiful and distinguished place that combines several styles. Here we can enjoy good food, exquisite desserts, and an excellent cup of coffee. I think it's not just about sipping coffee; the atmosphere also attracts us and invites us to return. The restaurant's façade is simple, which, incidentally, blends in very well with one of its atmospheres. Upon entering, we can enjoy two spaces, one outdoors and the other indoors where the restaurant operates, whose decoration gives it a prodigious touch of elegance. In the outdoor area, there is a bar, several tables, and a play area for the little ones, with slides and a trampoline, a little corner for fun while the adults enjoy being together with family and friends.

I chose to have my cup of coffee in the restaurant; it was very hot outside, and I preferred the air-conditioned space. An arched doorway leads into a beautiful, elegant area. You would think that the outdoor setting belongs to another place, but no, both are part of Casa Olivas. The difference is like night and day. A second bar welcomed me, along with a beautiful shelf stocked with assorted liquors, a wall full of woven baskets, and a sign that says “welcome” in Italian.

I was expecting a traditional menu, but the waiter, a friendly young man, surprised me with a menu on a tablet. There we could see everything this Italian restaurant had to offer, including various types of coffee. I placed my order and a few minutes later I received my long-awaited pistachio coffee, served in a clay cup on a tiny saucer with a teaspoon, specially designed to hold that particular cup. The coffee was decorated with a heart and around the cup were pieces of pistachios with a thick green syrup, the color that identifies this delicious nut.

I couldn't help but ask how this coffee is prepared. The young man kindly explained that they make a sweet pistachio cream, which they spread all over the cup, both the bottom and the sides, then add espresso and milk. The rim of the cup has a crunchy pistachio line but is enveloped in creaminess. The idea is not to add sugar to the coffee, because we have to stir the cream coated on the cup to give it a touch of flavor.

The green cream has a mild sweetness, while giving the coffee an irresistible aroma that makes this experience unique. I must say that I ate all the decoration, which was a mixture of pistachio pieces where the sweetness of the cream was the predominant flavor, with absolutely no hint of saltiness. It should be noted that this coffee is not cheap, but it was worth treating myself to a totally different flavor and aroma on my birthday.
