The distance from Cirebon city is about 24 kilometers and the distance from the center of Kuningan is 20 kilometers. At an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level. Linggarjati Museum building is a silent witness to the journey of the sovereignty of the Indonesian nation after the independence of the republic of indonesia in 1945.

Linggarjati Museum is a negotiation between the Indonesia nation and the Dutch nation on March 11-13,1946. The Linggarjati Museum building was built around 1918 and is a privately owned building. The museum building has undergone several changes in function, such as a residence, villa, hotel, and even a place for negotiation and is now a cultural heritage building.

The shape of the Linggarjati Museum building is art Deco and Indonesian tropical shape, pyramid roof shape. The area of the complex is around 2,5 hectares, the building area is around 800 meters and the number of room is 8 rooms. Quite a large area of the museum is used as a green open space park.

I tried to enter, inside the room installed documentation photos, negotiation tables, models during the negotiation. Rest room for the Indonesian delegation from the Netherlands, there is a room with chairs and tables that were once used by President Soekarno at that time with the delegation from England as mediator in Linggarjati negotiation.

The Indonesian delegation was Prime Minister Sutan Syahrir, with colleagues Mr.Soesanto Tirtoprodjo, Dr.A.K. Gani, Mr. Muhammad Roem . The Dutch delegation by Prof.Mr. Schermerhorn, Dr.Van Mook, Mr. Van Pool, Dr. F.De Boer. The mediator in the negotiation was Lord Killearn the representative of the British kingdom.

The remains of object inside the museum building are still original, such as photographs, negotiating tables, old Dutch ceramics, bathtubs, some of the court chairs. Since 1945 to 1949 between the Republic of Indonesian and the Netherlands, negotiation were always hampered by impatience from various parties in Indonesia and the Netherlands.

It was the historical role of figures such as Soekarno, Hatta, Syahrir, and Roem, and Van Mook on the other hand that Made it possible to over come obstacles so as to avoid a prolonged war. According to history, the Linggarjati negotiation were finally reached on November 10-15, 1946, with the Linggarjati agreement signed in jakarta on March 25,1947.

Why did Linggarjati village become a place of negotiation between the Indonesian and the Dutch. The figure of a mother named Maria Ulfa Santoso the first minister of social affairs also they are the children of the former regent of Kuningan. Proposed to Sutan Syahrir that the negotiation be in Linggarjati village, its strategic location is at the foot of mount Ciremai.
Thank you for stopping by.
