Many people of my generation have been living under strict parents whom love us in a hard way. Even though deep down in they love us, the biggest problem they was the inability to express it well to show that they truly care.

Instead of how modern parents do with their children, they prefer to be the one to discipline you or even warn you of the dangers that you might be exposed to. So on that, which I call tough love. Instead of giving you a hug, they will instead chide you or reprimand you for the undesirable things that you do.

Instead of saying "It's ok, just avoid it next time." What we typically get is "Don't you dare let this happen again."

The significant difference in approach is not without its benefits. It will serve as a strong warning to us and we link it up with fear. It works for me, but I also hope to be shown more love back then. Which approach works better for you?
