Repitiendo la historia (SPA-ENG)
Suscribo a ese dicho popular que reza: "la historia se repite, primero como comedia y luego como tragedia".
Demasiados hechos graves he visto repetirse, como si la humanidad no aprendiera de sus torpezas. Seguramente, por algo también se dice que el hombre es el único animal que tropieza dos veces con la misma piedra, no sé si será verdad, entiendo que es incomprobable gracias a la voluntad de Dios que no ha dotado al resto de los animales de la característica del habla, menudo embrollo tendríamos si además de nuestro parloteo constante tuviéramos que asistir al de todo el reino animal, que es bastante extenso, por cierto.
Como aquí estamos para hablar de deportes, les cuento que estoy un poco triste porque mi equipo favorito en el fútbol local ha abandonado una racha positiva de 4 encuentros sin conocer la derrota permitiéndole cosechar la nada despreciable cifra de 10 puntos que lo ha alejado por el momento en la tabla de promedios, esa incómoda cifra que determina los descensos de categoría. La derrota fue por 1 a 0 en el siempre dificil estadio de Unión de Santa Fe.
Ya son muchos años sin lograr un torneo, desde 1993 para ser precisos y hasta costó trabajo lograr que el mismo fuera considerado un título ya que fue un torneo que se disputó por única vez para celebrar los 100 años de la AFA, nuestra entidad rectora del fútbol, sin embargo, ese torneo contó con la participación de todos los equipos de primera división del aquel año y la final se le ganó a River Plate por 3 a 1.
Lejos ha quedado aquel club que en el año 1930 hizo una gira por Europa y se convirtió en el primer equipo argentino en ganarle al Barcelona (2 a 1) y al Real Madrid (3 a 2) en cuestión de días.
Pero como dije, la historia se repite y desde aquel momento mi equipo solo en dos o tres oportunidades tuvo alguna posibilidad real de campeonar, lamentablemente se frustró en los últimos partidos, en el último encuentro por ejemplo, en aquel recordado torneo de 1995 donde con ganar nos asegurábamos el campeonato, pero no, perdimos con Independiente por 1 a 0 en nuestro propio reducto y le regalamos el título a San Lorenzo de Almagro. Tanto para algunos y tan poco para otros.
Nuestros rivales de toda la vida, Estudiantes de la Plata, no solamente recuerda esa dolorosa derrota de nuestro equipo, sino que además celebran un ritual cada año en homenaje a Javier Massoni, el delantero de Independiente que convirtió el único gol en ese encuentro privándonos del campeonato.
Y no es que los simpatizantes abandonen, para nada, la hinchada de mi Lobo Platense sigue siendo una de las más entusiastas, pese a todo.
Para colmo de males, en la noche de ayer los Pincharratas de Estudiantes (ese es uno de sus apodos), le ganaron a River Plate de visitante por 2 a 0 quitándoles el invicto, como si los males no acabaran allí, Estudiantes pasó a ser el líder del grupo A de la copa de la liga profesional del fútbol argentino junto a un sorpresivo equipo de Tigre, a quien nadie tenía en el radar de una buena campaña como la que está teniendo.
No perdemos las esperanzas de, al menos, ser uno de los 8 equipos que se clasifican para disputar las finales del torneo en cada zona, por ahora ocupamos la 6ta. posición, aunque con un partido más que dos rivales que podrían pasarnos si ganan sus encuentros programados para el día de hoy.
La historia es dura cuando se repite sin solución de continuidad, muchos años de espera y seguimos contando.
Repeating history
I subscribe to the popular adage: "History repeats itself, first as comedy and then as tragedy."
I have seen too many serious events repeated, as if humanity did not learn from its blunders. Surely, there is a reason why it is also said that man is the only animal that trips twice over the same stone. I do not know if it is true, but I understand that it is unverifiable thanks to the will of God who has not endowed the rest of the animals with the characteristic of speech. What a mess we would have if, in addition to our constant chatter, we had to attend to that of the animal kingdom, which is quite extensive.
Since we are here to talk about sports, I tell you that I am a little sad because my favorite team in local soccer has abandoned a positive streak of 4 games without knowing defeat, allowing it to collect the not inconsiderable figure of 10 points that has distanced it for the moment in the average table, that uncomfortable figure that determines the relegation of category.
It's been many years since we won a tournament, since 1993 to be precise, and it was even difficult to get it considered a title since it was a tournament that was played for the only time to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the AFA, our governing body of football. However, that tournament had the participation of all the first division teams of that year and the final was won against River Plate by 3 to 1.
Long gone is the club that in 1930 toured Europe and became the first Argentine team to beat Barcelona (2-1) and Real Madrid (3-2) in a matter of days.
But as I said, history repeats itself and since then my team only had a real chance of winning the championship on two or three occasions. Unfortunately, I was frustrated in the last matches, in the last game for example, in that memorable tournament of 1995 where winning would have guaranteed us the championship, but no, we lost to Independiente 1-0 in our stadium and gave the title to San Lorenzo de Almagro. So much for some and so little for others.
Our lifelong rivals, Estudiantes de la Plata, not only remember that painful defeat of our team, but also celebrate a ritual every year in homage to Javier Massoni, the Independiente striker who scored the only goal in that match depriving us of the championship.
And it's not that the fans are leaving, not at all, the fans of my Lobo Platense continue to be one of the most enthusiastic, despite everything.
To make matters worse, last night the Pincharratas of Estudiantes (that is one of their nicknames), beat River Plate away by 2-0, taking away their unbeaten record. As if the troubles did not end there, Estudiantes became the leader of group A of the Argentine professional soccer league cup along with a surprising team from Tigre, who nobody had on the radar of having a good campaign like the one they are having.
We do not lose hope of, at least, being one of the 8 teams that qualify to play in the finals of the tournament in each zone. For now, we occupy the 6th position, although with one more game than two rivals who could pass us if they win their matches scheduled for today.
History is hard when it repeats itself without interruption, after many years of waiting and continuing counting.
