Pato o gallareta (SPA-ENG)
El año anterior fue especial para todos mis compatriotas, incluido un servidor, por supuesto. Luego de muchos años volvíamos a tener un argentino pilotando un monoplaza de Fórmula Uno.
En la segunda parte del torneo de la Fórmula Uno del año anterior, Franco Colapinto fue subido a un Williams y debutó en Monza con un 12.º puesto, ubicación tan sorpresiva como su designación en una de las más antiguas y exitosas escuderías de la categoría, aunque su presente no fuera todo lo lustroso de antaño.
En la carrera siguiente, en Azerbayán, consiguió sus primeros puntos asombrando a todos, el equipo con sede en Grove, Reino Unido, ya no es el de antes y por consiguiente la sorpresa fue doble ya que ambos pilotos se ubicaron dentro de los 10 primeros, inesperado para muchos.
Y llegó el turno de Singapur, de noche, con calor y humedad insoportables se disputó ese gran premio y nuestro compatriota hizo una buena carrera pese a todo, estuvo al borde de ingresar nuevamente a los puntos finalizando en la posición 11, el undercut del Red Bull de Checo Perez lo privó de ese 10° puesto que esperaba y merecía, el equipo de la bebida energizante consiguió en los boxes lo que en carrera no había podido, el propio piloto mexicano anunció por radio que Franco estaba manejando realmente bien y no tenía posibilidades de pasarlo, el equipo hizo lo necesario para sacarlo antes a la pista y así sucedió.
En esa carrera hubo una equivocación premonitoria del argentino, al ingresar a boxes para el cambio de neumáticos se equivocó y paró en el de Alpine que se encontraba inmediatamente antes del de Williams, fueron apenas unos instantes de distracción aunque en estos días su nueva escudería se lo recordó bromeando en un posteo de la cuenta oficial.
Este fin de semana Franco Colapinto vuelve a Singapur quizás con menos espectativas que las que tenía en año anterior con el Williams, algo impensado a principios de año pero que se convirtió en realidad, el resto de los equipos han sido mucho más que Alpine en lo que va de esta temporada y nada indica una mejora de los vehículos de la escudería liderada por Flavio Briatore. Una pena por el argentino, en las apuestas es así, sale pato o gallareta, diría mi abuela, y a Franco le tocó la peor parte, así es el juego y en muchas ocasiones no existe siquiera la posibilidad de elección.
Por estos días ha circulado un rumor que hay que tomarlo solo como lo que es pero que siempre afecta y uno termina ilusionándose, habría sondeos de Red Bull en torno a la figura de Alex Albon, quien ya fuera parte de la escudería con asiento en Milton Keynes, de ser así se abriría una puerta para volver a Williams donde dejó una excelente impresión; como dije, es solo un rumor sin confirmación.
Volviendo al Gran Premio a disputarse en el Marina Bay Street Circuit, será una carrera demandante para el físico de los pilotos, por el calor y la humedad principalmente, pero también porque se corre de noche y en un circuito angosto y rápido, donde la menor distracción se paga contra las defensas arruinando la carrera. Según se ha mencionado, los pilotos pierden cerca de 3 kilogramos de peso durante el desarrollo de la carrera. Como si fueran jugadores de fútbol.
Pese al mal desempeño de los Alpine, todos por aquí estamos esperanzados en que un milagro ocurra y podamos verlo dentro de los 10 primeros. Quizás un día, cuando vayamos a cazar patos, obtengamos un pato y no una gallareta.
Duck or coot
Last year was special for all my fellow countrymen, including myself, of course. After many years, we once again had an Argentine driver driving a Formula One single-seater.
In the second half of last year's Formula One championship, Franco Colapinto was promoted to a Williams and debuted at Monza with a 12th-place finish, a finish as surprising as his appointment to one of the oldest and most successful teams in the category, although his current performance wasn't as lustrous as it once was.
In the following race, in Azerbaijan, he scored his first points, surprising everyone. The team based in Grove, UK, is no longer what it once was, and therefore the surprise was doubly high, as both drivers placed within the top 10, unexpected for many.
And then it was Singapore's turn. At night, in unbearable heat and humidity, the Grand Prix was held, and our compatriot drove a good race despite everything. He was on the verge of returning to the points, finishing in 11th place. An undercut from Checo Perez's Red Bull deprived him of the 10th place he had hoped for and deserved. The energy drink team achieved in the pits what they hadn't been able to do in the race. The Mexican driver himself announced on the radio that Franco was driving really well and had no chance of passing him. The team did what was necessary to get him out on track earlier, and that's what happened.
In that race, the Argentine made a premonitory mistake. When he entered the pits to change tires, he made a mistake and stopped on the Alpine tire immediately in front of the Williams tire. It was just a few moments of distraction, although his new team jokingly reminded him of this in a post on their official account.
This weekend, Franco Colapinto returns to Singapore perhaps with fewer expectations than he had last year with Williams, something unthinkable at the beginning of the year but now a reality. The rest of the teams have far outnumbered Alpine so far this season, and nothing indicates an improvement in the vehicles of the team led by Flavio Briatore. It's a shame for the Argentine; betting is like that, it's either a duck or a coon, as my grandmother would say, and Franco got the worst of it. That's the way it is, and often there's no choice.
A rumor has been circulating these days, which you have to take at face value, but it always affects you, and you end up getting your hopes up. There may be inquiries from Red Bull regarding Alex Albon, who was already part of the Milton Keynes-based team. If so, it would open the door to a return to Williams, where he made an excellent impression. As I said, it's just an unconfirmed rumor.
Returning to the Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, it will be a physically demanding race for the drivers, primarily due to the heat and humidity, but also because it is raced at night and on a narrow, fast circuit, where the slightest distraction can be met with the bumpers, ruining the race. As has been mentioned, the drivers lose around 3 kilograms of weight during the race. Just like soccer players.
Despite the Alpine's poor performance, everyone here is hoping for a miracle and a chance to see them in the top 10. Perhaps one day, when we go duck hunting, we'll get a duck instead of a coot.

Soy de los que he apostado por Franco y espero que más temprano que tarde me de esa alegría.
También espero que en esa cacería pueda disfrutar de patos.
