Momentos difíciles en la ribera (SPA-ENG)
Desde el sábado anterior estuve pensando en un artículo como el que sigue, me llevó a decidirme la lectura de la publicación de @karlex77 titulada Viviendo momentos difíciles que pueden leer haciendo clic sobre el título. En ella hace mención a la actual realidad de los Yankees de Nueva York y el particular momento que viven fuera de toda lucha por llegar a los playoffs aunque aun conservan una pequeña luz de esperanza.
En mi caso veo una situación similar aunque no en el beisbol sino en el fútbol, deporte que por aquí es tan popular como lo es el del guante, la pelota y el bate en el hemisferio Norte. En este caso hablo de Boca Juniors, un equipo grande, ganador desde toda óptica, con 22 títulos internacionales entre los que se cuentan 3 copas intercontinentales y 6 Libertadores de América, 17 copas nacionales y 35 títulos locales es aun hoy el equipo con más títulos en el país habiendo llegado a un total de 74.
Pero su actualidad dista mucho de esa faceta ganadora. Escuché en el día de ayer a un amargado periodista político cuya simpatía futbolística es pública y manifiesta hacia el club de la Ribera, decir que Francisco todavía era Papa y Colapinto aun no corría con Alpine cuando Boca ganó por última vez.
Ciertamente la racha negativa de la Azul y Oro comenzó el 19 de abril, luego de vencer a Estudiantes de La Plata por 2 a 0 cuando todavía su director técnico era Fernando Gago. A partir de ese momento no volvió a ganar nunca más extendiendo su racha negativa a 12 encuentros entre los que se cuentas 4 competencias diferentes: la liga local, la copa Argentina, el mundial de clubes y la etapa previa a la fase de grupos de la copa Libertadores de América.
Es la peor racha negativa en 125 años de vida superando las dos anteriores de 11 encuentros que se observaron en 1957 y 2021 respectivamente. Luego de ese último encuentro donde cosechó los 3 puntos en disputa perdió con River Plate, su clásico rival por 2 a 1, partido que definió el despido de su DT. Posteriormente vinieron dos empates ante Tigre 1 a 1 y ante Lanús 0 a 0. Luego Boca partió a jugar el mundial de clubes donde empató con Benfica 2 a 2, perdió con el Bayern Munich 2 a 1 y empató con Auckland City 1 a 1; volvió a la Argentina donde comenzó el torneo Clausura y continuó empatando con Argentinos Juniors 0 a 0 y Unión 1 a 1, luego vino el encuentro por octavos de final de copa Argentina donde cayó ante Atlético Tucumán por 2 a 1, volvió a la disputa del Clausura perdiendo con Huracán por 1 a 0 y este sábado anterior empató con Racing Club de Avellaneda 1 a 1.
En el cierre de la fecha el día domingo, Boca Juniors recibió otra mala noticia, ganó Argentinos Juniors y desplazó al equipo de la ribera del tercer lugar en la tabla general que clasifica para la copa Libertadores del año próximo. En base a esto y de no revertir ese posición queda un solo camino para jugar ese que es el torneo más importante a nivel de clubes en Sudamérica, debe obtener el torneo Clausura lo que es improbable a estas alturas ya que se encuentra en el fondo de la tabla con solo 3 unidades y su juego no convence a nadie.
Ni siquiera la inyección de optimismo y esperanza que provocó la contratación del campeón del mundo Leandro Paredes ha servido para detener la anemia futbolística del equipo.
Miguel Angel Russo, el director técnico que reemplazó a Gago y se hizo cargo del plantel por segunda vez, viene repitiendo un ciclo importante sin victorias desde la anterior gestión en que fue despedido, desde su nueva contratación no ha ganado y su continuidad pende de un hilo, el presidente del club, el histórico ídolo Juan Román Riquelme acaba de despedir a todo el consejo de fútbol, paso previo a tomar una decisión similar con el DT.
Boca deambula en un mar de dudas y muchos comparan esta época sin rumbo con la del ex presidente del club y luego de la Nación Mauricio Macri quien lideró un ciclo de oro donde ganó todo lo que disputó y saneo su economía de la mejor manera, la política también juega en el fútbol y principalmente en los clubes de mayor convocatoria.
La situación actual es crítica desde todo punto de vista: deportivo e institucional y Riquelme debe producir un cambio fundamental si pretende ser recordado de la mejor manera.
Difficult times on the riverbank
I've been thinking about an article like the one below since last Saturday. I was led to read @karlex77's post titled Living Through Difficult Times, which you can read by clicking on the title. In it, she mentions the current situation of the New York Yankees and the particular moment they're experiencing, out of contention for the playoffs, although they still retain a small glimmer of hope.
In my case, I see a similar situation, although not in baseball but in soccer, a sport that is as popular here as the game of glove, ball, and bat is in the Northern Hemisphere. In this case, I'm talking about Boca Juniors, a great team, a winner from every perspective, with 22 international titles, including three Intercontinental Cups and six Libertadores de América Cups, 17 national cups, and 35 local titles. It is still the team with the most titles in the country, having reached a total of 74.
But its current form is far from that winning streak. Yesterday, I heard a bitter political journalist, whose football sympathy for the club from La Ribera, say that Francis was still Pope and Colapinto hadn't even been riding for Alpine when Boca last won.
The Blue and Gold's losing streak certainly began on April 19, after beating Estudiantes de La Plata 2-0 when its manager was still Fernando Gago. From that moment on, they never won again, extending their losing streak to 12 matches, spanning four different competitions: the local league, the Argentine Cup, the Club World Cup, and the qualifying round of the Copa Libertadores de América group stage.
It's the worst losing streak in their 125 years of existence, surpassing the two previous ones of 11 matches, seen in 1957 and 2021, respectively. After that last match, where they collected the three points at stake, they lost to River Plate, their arch-rivals, 2-1, a match that led to their manager's dismissal. Two subsequent draws followed against Tigre (1-1) and Lanús (0-0). Boca Juniors then went on to play in the Club World Cup, where they drew with Benfica (2-2), lost to Bayern Munich (2-1), and drew with Auckland City (1-1). They returned to Argentina, where the Clausura tournament began, and continued by drawing with Argentinos Juniors 0-0 and Unión 1-1. Then came the Copa Argentina Round of 16 match, where they lost to Atlético Tucumán 2-1. They returned to the Clausura, losing to Huracán 1-0, and this past Saturday drew with Racing Club de Avellaneda 1-1.
At the close of the day on Sunday, Boca Juniors received more bad news. Argentinos Juniors won, knocking the team from the riverbank out of third place in the standings, which qualifies for next year's Copa Libertadores. Based on this, and without reversing that position, there is only one way for them to play in what is the most important club tournament in South America: they must win the Clausura, which is unlikely at this point, given that they are at the bottom of the table with only 3 points and their performance is not convincing anyone.
Not even the injection of optimism and hope brought about by the signing of world champion Leandro Paredes has been enough to stem the team's footballing anaemia.
Miguel Angel Russo, the technical director who replaced Gago and took charge of the squad for the second time, has been repeating an important cycle without victories since the previous management, in which he was fired. Since his new hiring, he has not wo,n and his continuity hangs by a thread. The club president, the historical idol Juan Román Riquelme, has just fired the entire football council, a preliminary step to taking a similar decision with the coach.
Boca is wandering in a sea of doubt, and many compare this aimless era with that of former club president and then national president Mauricio Macri, who led a golden era where he won everything he contested and rebuilt the club's finances in the best possible way. Politics also plays a role in football, especially at the most popular clubs.
The current situation is critical from every perspective: both sporting and institutional, and Riquelme must bring about fundamental change if he hopes to be remembered in the best possible way.

Me duele que un equipo tan guerrero como lo es Boca Juniors esté viviendo una pesadilla total en este momento, quizás el futuro nos de mejores cosas pero estoy ansioso porque levanten nuevamente y vuelvan a mostrar esa garra que los caracteriza

Como hincha de Boca tengo que decir que siento resignación en este punto. Esa escena de Riquelme festejando un empate de local me dio asco. Y lo peor puede estar por venir. Como dijiste, actualmente estamos afuera de la próxima copa libertadores. Ya no haberla jugada 2 años seguidos era un fracaso, 3 serán algo patético y deplorable.
