Alquilado (SPA-ENG)
Alquilar o rentar si lo prefieren y se sienten más cómodos con el verbo, significa utilizar algo que no es de su propiedad abonándole al propietario un canon o suma de dinero por ello.
En mi país existe una expresión popular que, para hablar específicamente de deportes, se utiliza cuando un jugador o equipo gana repetidamente a un determinado rival o un torneo en disputa: "lo tienes alquilado".
Algo así deberíamos decir del torneo de Vancouver, Canadá, cuarta escala del circuito HSBC SVNS Series, el torneo mundial de rugby de 7 jugadores que se viene disputando ininterrumpidamente desde la temporada 1999-2000. Esta fecha que se disputa anualmente en Canadá ha sido ganada por cuarta vez consecutiva por el equipo argentino de Los Pumas, la selección nacional de varones para la citada modalidad de 7 jugadores.
Los tetracampeones vencieron en la final a Sudáfrica por 19-12 para sumar, como dije anteriormente, su cuarto título consecutivo desde 2022 e imponer un récord que sorprende.
La modalidad de rugby para 7 jugadores brinda un mayor dinamismo, velocidad, marcadores abultados y cambiantes a un deporte que en su formato conocido y habitual de 15 jugadores no siempre tiene, con un aditamento, los partidos son de corta duración (2 tiempos de 7 minutos cada uno) que permiten disputar torneos internaciones de alto nivel en pocos días.
Este torneo se disputa actualmente con un calendario de 7 fechas, en distintas ciudades y países del mundo, a saber: Dubai en Emiratos Árabes, Ciudad del Cabo en Sudáfrica, Perth en Australia, Vancouver en Canadá, Hong Kong en China, Singapur y la final en Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos. Tiene la particularidad de que se juegan simultáneamente los torneos de varones y mujeres.
Finalizadas cuatro ruedas, Argentina marcha al frente de las posiciones con 68 puntos por delante de España (64), Fiji y República Sudafricana (62), más atrás se ubican Francia (46), Australia (38) y Nueva Zelanda (38), hasta aquí los clasificados para disputar la gran final de Los Ángeles y permanecer en la máxima categoría el año próximo, Kenia, Uruguay, Estados Unidos e Irlanda se encuentran en zona de descenso que se combinará con el World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series que es la segunda división para determinar los 4 equipos restantes que disputar el SVNS Series del año próximo y quienes pasarán a la categoría promocional.
A partir del año 2024 el reglamento cambió y hay dos campeones al año, el de la etapa regular y el de la gran final, ese año el campeón de la etapa regular fue Argentina y el de la gran final Francia.
En los años transcurridos desde su creación en 1999, el mayor ganador es Nueva Zelanda con 14 títulos seguido por Fiji y Sudáfrica con 4, Samoa y Australia 1 título y como mencioné anteriormente Argentina y Francia en 2024.
Un torneo apasionante y un equipo argentino que mantiene el nivel del año anterior, esperamos lo mejor.

Renting means using something not your property by paying the owner a fee or sum.
In my country there is a popular expression that, to speak specifically about sports, is used when a player or team repeatedly wins against a certain rival or a tournament in dispute: "You have it rented."
Something similar should be said about the tournament in Vancouver, Canada, the fourth stage of the HSBC SVNS Series circuit, the world rugby tournament for 7 players that has been held uninterruptedly since the 1999-2000 season. This event, which is held annually in Canada, has been won for the fourth consecutive time by the Argentine team Los Pumas, the national men's team for the aforementioned 7-player modality.
The four-time champions beat South Africa in the final by 19-12 to add, as I said before, their fourth consecutive title since 2022 and set a surprising record.
The 7-a-side rugby modality provides greater dynamism, speed, and high and changing scores to a sport that does not always have this in its well-known and usual 15-a-side format, with one addition: the matches are short (2 7-minute periods each) which allows for high-level international tournaments to be played in just a few days.
This tournament is currently being played on a 7-date schedule, in different cities and countries around the world, namely: Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Cape Town in South Africa, Perth in Australia, Vancouver in Canada, Hong Kong in China, Singapore and the final in Los Angeles, United States. It has the particularity that the men's and women's tournaments are played simultaneously.
After four rounds, Argentina is leading the standings with 68 points ahead of Spain (64), Fiji, and South Africa (62), further behind are France (46), Australia (38), and New Zealand (38), so far those qualified to play the grand final in Los Angeles and remain in the top category next year, Kenya, Uruguay, the United States and Ireland are in the relegation zone that will be combined with the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series which is the second division to determine the remaining 4 teams that will play the SVNS Series next year and who will move on to the promotional category.
Starting in 2024 the regulations changed and there are two champions per year, the one of the regular stage and the one of the grand final, that year the champion of the regular stage was Argentina and the one of the grand final was France.
In the years since its creation in 1999, the biggest winner is New Zealand with 14 titles followed by Fiji and South Africa with 4, Samoa and Australia with 1 title, and as I mentioned earlier Argentina and France in 2024 1 each.
An exciting tournament and an Argentine team that maintains the level of the previous year, we hope for the best.
