Ahí vamos, andando (SPA-ENG)
Así es como avanza el rugby tradicional en mi país, venimos de dos duras derrotas en sendos test match contra Inglaterra, según los especialistas nos tienen tomada la mano y por ahora no hay forma de ganarles. Parecen ciertas esas afirmaciones, en el segundo estuvimos un poco más cerca en el resultado, no así en el juego que dominaron casi a voluntad, en largos pasajes no podíamos pasar el medio campo.
Este sábado se mejoró un poco o más bien se hizo lo que se debía hacer venciendo a "los teros" el seleccionado uruguayo que nunca ha sido rival de cuidado para "los pumas", Solo sirve para restañar algunas heridas del paso victorioso de los ingleses por estas tierras.
Donde sí hemos tenido un excelente resultado es en el mundial de rugby sub-20 disputado en Italia y que acaba de finalizar en el día de ayer, obtuvimos el tercer puesto al vencer a Francia por 38 a 35 en un encuentro muy disputado donde los nuestros recién pudieron prevalecer en los últimos minutos.
Muy meritorio lo de los pumitas ya que Francia posee enormes antecedentes entre los juveniles, era el campeón mundial defensor de esta categoría al obtener el título en 2023 al vencer a Australia en esa final.
En fase de grupos Francia arrasó con triunfos sobre Argentina (52-26), España (49-11) y Gales (35-21), los nuestros quedaron segundos y disputaron el partido por semifinales ante Sudáfrica siendo derrotados por 48 a 24, Francia por su parte fue derrotado por Nueva Zelanda y de esta manera llegamos al encuentro por el tercer lugar antes mencionado.
La final fue para Sudáfrica quien se toma revancha de Nueva Zelanda luego de varios años.
Mientras tanto y debido a las derrotas ante Inglaterra, los mayores han descendido en el ranking mundial y aunque faltan 2 años para el próximo evento ecuménico, en estos momentos su participación directa corre riesgos.
Veremos lo que ocurra en el tiempo que queda y como varía ese ranking, aunque con los antecedentes de los juveniles, el futuro se muestra muy promisorio.

This is how traditional rugby is progressing in my country. We're coming off two tough defeats in two test matches against England. According to the experts, they have us under control, and for now, there's no way to beat them. Those statements seem to be true. In the second, we were a little closer in the result, but not in the game, which they dominated almost at will. For long stretches, we couldn't get past the midfield.
This Saturday, we made some improvements, or rather, we did what we had to do, beating "Los Teros," the Uruguayan team that has never posed a serious challenge to "Los Pumas." It only serves to heal some wounds from the English team's victorious run in these parts.
One area where we achieved an excellent result was in the U-20 Rugby World Cup, held in Italy and concluding yesterday. We took third place by beating France 38-35 in a hard-fought match where our team only managed to prevail in the final minutes.
The Pumitas' performance was highly praiseworthy, as France has a strong track record among juniors. They were the defending world champions in this category, winning the title in 2023 by defeating Australia in the final.
In the group stage, France swept the field with wins over Argentina (52-26), Spain (49-11), and Wales (35-21). Our team finished second and played the semifinal match against South Africa, losing 48-24. France, for its part, was defeated by New Zealand, thus reaching the aforementioned third-place match.
The final went to South Africa, which took revenge on New Zealand after several years.
Meanwhile, due to the defeats against England, the seniors have dropped in the world rankings, and although the next ecumenical event is two years away, their direct participation is currently at risk.
We'll see what happens in the remaining time and how that ranking changes, although with the juniors' track record, the future looks very promising.

Gracias @sadiel0102, no hay torneos importantes de rugby por ahora, solo test match que sirven para subir o bajar en el ranking mundial.
