UNPACKING THE WEIGHT: RETHINKING RESILIENCE
We learn everyday, that’s what we always say and that’s because we keep affirming to that fact almost everyday by ourselves. I mean, the moment you fail to learn from situations life throws at you, it means you have made up your mind to swim in regrets. I’m someone who liked to keep up with things and people as long as I’m the one who is hurting and not them. I liked to believe that I know myself better so it was fine to be the one in pain than someone else. Well, this didn’t just happen, I was this way because of the unfortunate circumstances I faced as a child.
I grew up learning everyday to be stronger and stronger, not relenting because I was worried what other challenges life was preparing to throw at me. I didn’t want to be caught unaware again so I continued going harder on myself. And this was also part of the reasons why I always felt comfortable in pain as long as the other person was okay. Well, recently, I got to notice that a lot of that have been changing. I can’t really count how many minimalist posts I have shared in the past 2 years but I know that for most of them, I have written a lot of times how I try to overcome a bad mood and get clarity again.
The truth was, unknowingly to me, the more I engaged in these posts writing and reading from others, the more I helped myself know me better and that helped me stopped enjoying to stay in pain. I actually got to realize that I didn’t have to bear the pain, neither does anyone else have to bear it too if we don’t want to. I started loving myself more and that helped me clear off a lot of things from my mind. I have come to realize that these days I have less worries than I usually do and it has helped me travel light through this case called life.
Now, once I have anything bothering me, I always try as much as I can to talk it out or find a solution to it than trying to just let it dwell rent free somewhere inside of me. I mean, what gives it that right to stay there if not me? Now I have come to understand that I can also choose not to let it stay there at all by finding out why it wants to be there and hopefully finding it’s rightful place for it to stay.
Sometimes when we try to be nice, it is easy for us to loose sight of when we should say no or even question why we have to do something. Our mind is like our storage room, when we keep saving unnecessary information for too long, we most times forget about them and when we need to clear out some space, we still find ourselves clearing out important information because unfortunately they are the most obvious large files and unknowingly to us, the other smaller files are all together even larger and might even be the ones causing the error in our system.
This simple illustration has helped me understand better the importance of those little things and how to focus more on them before I get too comfortable with them and find it hard to know when to let go of them. I still have quite a lot of things I have to offload from my mind and I’m just going to keep doing that until I feel really light as I go on this journey.
Once again, I’m grateful to whoever suggested this topic idea on #travellighttuesday, while writing this piece I was able to give an answer to a question that have been bothering me lately and now I feel lighter even more.
It’s another beautiful week, have a lovely one ❤️.
That case of always putting others first every single time even when we should give ourselves priority is awful. And sometimes, it's so hard to say NO to feeling that way.
But I think when we start becoming aware of what we need to do, it becomes better.
Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, the first step is, knowing that it is not the right way to go and then start making conscious efforts to make amends.
Thank you more for stopping by and leaving such a beautiful comment 🥰
100%! Talking things out feels like such an underrated thing, yet a very powerful one. You're right, we don't have to go through unpleasant situations alone and often sharing them with someone else can significantly lighten the load.
I'm glad the prompt inspired you :)
You’re right. Sometimes, we somehow think that we can do it all on our own but it’s only a matter of time before we get to realize that we also need a shoulder to lean on.
Thank you so much for your comment, I’m glad to know someone can actually resonate with me on things like this 😊

We are very good at seeing the weight that others carry, but we find it difficult to see our own. We need help. So when those comments come in, we do well to give them at least a little consideration. I enjoyed reading you and your example of the archives. Regards @hopestylist
You are right. This also goes with us being able to see others wrongs but become too negligent of our own wrongs. We just have to find a good balance for a healthier lifestyle.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful response, I’m glad you enjoyed reading through 🥰
