UNCOVERING MY PURPOSE

In a world like ours when everything seems like a distraction and everything can be a distraction, it’s so easy for us to forget who we are, where we are coming from, where we are going and most especially, why we are here. Most of time, I just sit in my room and think about the reason why I just want to keep going even though deep down I wish it could just end already. It feels like a long movie or a book I have to complete or else I won’t get what I want, that kind of a thing. It has been a struggle but then, something just keeps me going and I believe that is the major reason why I am here.

As someone who pursues different things in life, sometimes I miss the point of all of it and things starts getting overwhelming and tiring almost all the time and it is at that point I know I might be wandering too far from the reason why I’m here. Now the big question is, why am I here? The simple and short answer to this question is that, I’m here because I was chosen to be here. It is not a mistake that I’m here and it is also not because I want to be here that’s why I’m here even though I seem to be the one working out different strategies to be where I am today. It is all in God’s plan that I’d be where I am today.

Yes, I have my personal plans and all but in the end, I understand that it is still God that has made most of them work our well and he is still the one giving me the wisdom to make better choices of where I should aspire to be. I’m here because I have a role to play in this world, in the lives of those around me and in my own life too. I also have the responsibility of working out my own salvation because I believe that there is something more than this earth that we live in.

I believe I’m here because of all these reasons and more. Here’s a little personal experience of why I believe and know these are the reasons why I’m here. So, some years back, I was at home waiting to get admission into the university and it felt like I wasn’t going to get it no matter how much I tried and during those times, I was feeling like the most unfortunate person in my circle but then, I never knew that was God trying to prepare me for what was to come. Now I have gotten the admission that I have always wanted but I can’t even remember how much I have been drained both mentally, emotionally, psychologically and others. If it wasn’t for those years that God taught me how to cope with some difficulties, I’m very sure by now I would have dropped out of the school I have always wanted.

So like I said, I’m not here by chance, I was here because I was chosen to be here and even though I have been given the privilege to make the choices of where I want to be next, I have learnt to still surrender it all to God because I believe and trust him to always give me an expected end.
