THE BEST OF ME

The most inspirational person in my life is the best version of myself - you can say the improved me. I have noticed how I always feel sad every time I see someone doing something better and I’m doing the opposite when I know I can do that same thing. I was so good at comparing myself with others. Drawing my inspirations from others but it never gets me the result that I needed. And after thinking about this carefully, I realized that my major source of inspiration is the person I aspire to be.

Whenever I’m doing something that goes out of the kind of life I want for myself, I’m reminded that I’m stepping out of line and I try to fall back in line. Whenever I want to give up on becoming a better version of myself because it keeps getting hard, I remember all the things I have envisioned for myself and I cry and tell myself to keep going because the end goal is something that will be good for me and also become a source of inspiration to other people. I want to be the inspiration to others.

The best of me that I have envisioned is someone who loves and loves genuinely. Without considering their class or statue or culture or race or anything. Whenever I see myself being selective of the people to show love to, I’m reminded of what my goal is and I try to adjust. The best version of myself is outspoken without fear of judgment or criticism. Whenever I’m struggling to speak up because I’m scared of what I might face, I’m reminded of the version of me that I’m aspiring to be and I speak up even in my fears and I’m getting better at being outspoken with ever courageous move I make.

The best version of me is someone who is determined and persistent. I’m doing well at this at the moment but I’m still struggling a bit. So anytime I see that I’m beginning to struggle in being persistent and determined, when I think about what I aspire to be, I’m inspired to just keep going even when it is hard.

The best version of me is one that brings glory to God. Sometimes when I do things that I know are not right, I remember my goal is to do things that brings glory to God and I retrace my steps. I want my life to be a life that people will see and glorify God and even want to know him better. And because of this, I’m always conscious of what I do. I’m always seeking for help and counsel when I’m going the other way.

I’m my own inspiration. I want to be the best of me that God has made so in the end his name will be glorified. I’m still far from the best of me but I’m just happy that I’m working towards it. I’m happy that I’m willing to learn, unlearn, relearn. I’m happy that I’m doing a lot of things even when it is hard. It’s only a matter of time and I’ll see better results and even if it doesn’t gets easier, at least I get stronger because it is only making me and not breaking me.

Thank you for reading through. 💜

I love how you embrace your version of yourself. Same here I love comparing myself with others a lot and I'm always sad and jealous whenever I see that the person I'm comparing myself to is doing better than me, it always provoked me a lot. I really love this post and also you are looking good in this picture.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Tosin.
Comparing myself with others only make me feel vexed within my spirit and I just had to learn how to stop it because it was also beginning to affect how I see them too.

Comparing yourself with others will do you more harm than good speaking from experience, it kills your joy and leaves you with so much sadness.

Being yourself is sometimes the easiest and hardest to do at the same time. I think having this framework of improving yourself as a way to aspire becoming a better version of yourself is the right way to go. Comparing oneself to others rarely helps in this process, I'm learning to get off that bandwagon completely. Better to stick on my own lane and work on improving the different aspects of myself :)

Do you get? We have so much about ourselves that if we focus on improving them, we will just get better at even the things we never even imagined.

Thank you for your contribution, Takhar. 🥰

Indeed! It's almost like a full time job, in terms of working on improving oneself. Like a house, there's always something to improve upon. Always a work in progress.

You're most welcome, HS :)

That’s right! It doesn’t end. And as someone once said, the day we be stop learning that is the day we die and I believe that applies to us improving on ourselves too. The day we stop working on becoming better, a part of us starts dying.

While growing up I hate being compared. It makes me feel inferior but as I keep on growing I realize there's no need to compare myself to another. I don't really know what they are doing in secret.

That’s right! Some people go the extra mile both in good and bad way. And you can’t get to their level if you don’t put in just as much effort as they do. And we all have different time and energy so it’s just wrong to work with others time and energy.

Thanks for stopping by. 🥰

It always good to know yourself so that you can grow yourself and that's actually what you have done, but it also good to have mentor who has achieved what you are looking up to, cos when you see them it brings out more possibilities that you too can

Not everyone look up to him. But yes, if I see those that look up to him, they are automatically my inspiration too.
