SEEKING CLARITY

I was actually thinking of how to put what I had in mind into writing and it just wasn’t forming the words I wanted. I knew exactly what I wanted to talk about but it was stuck in my head. Well, I decided to just start anyways and just keep editing the words if necessary until it makes sense.

So lately I have been thinking of something that I’ll like to share with us. I hope you get the message of this post and use it the way you dim fit.

As children, most of us were the curious ones. We always had questions in our heads. We always wanted to know why things looked the way they did. Why people say things the way they say them. Why we have to eat different foods and not just our favorite meals. Why we have to go to school and many more questions. A lot of things just didn’t make sense to us and we never kept it to ourselves, our curiosity pushed us to seek for answers to our questions. Either by asking others who should have a good answer to our questions or by seeking out the answers ourselves.

Sometimes I do wonder why God wanted us to be like children if truly we want to enter into his kingdom and now that I think about how children behave, this is one common thing among a lot of children. They are always asking questions or seeking for clarification as to why things are the way they are and why they should keep doing things the way they do them.

As we grew up, these questions reduced. We get curious but not for everything that bothers us. We started being selective of the questions we ask because it started feeling childish and we are grownups. We start letting things slide. Oh! Maybe this doesn’t matter. Or it is none of my business to worry about and then we just move on. For me, for every little question we have in our minds, it is a pathway for us to gain a major understanding of something but the moment we see those questions as not necessary or childish, we lose the opportunity of getting the clarity we need.

Living in today’s world, there are so many questions in our minds about different aspects of our lives but today, we are more focused on some than the others because they don’t seem necessary. A man once said in a movie that I watched some months back that the moment we stop learning that is the day we die. And we have always known that knowledge is power and one way to seek knowledge is to always ask questions when you are not sure about something. No man they say is an island of knowledge, so it’s fine to ask someone questions when you don’t know about something. Assumption usually is born out of pride and ignorance.

Don’t let pride get in the way. When you start seeking answers to questions, you will definitely find it. Ignorance is not going to be an excuse anymore. You have so many information or ways to get answers today so you won’t be pardoned for not knowing. If you choose to ignore those questions in your mind, be willing to take full responsibility for it.

I remember I was once sent by an elderly person to get something. I heard bread but I wasn’t sure. But I didn’t ask to confirm if he said bread and I rushed out to get bread. When I got back, he was so mad at me for getting bread and the next thing he asked was, “what did I ask you to get for me?” It was at that point I told him I didn’t really hear what he said but I assumed it was bread because he mostly asks me to get him bread. Then he told me something that stuck with me until today which I’m also sharing with you now. He said “no matter what, when someone says something and you didn’t hear them, tell them to repeat themselves until you get it.”

For me, I didn’t want to ask again because I felt like I was bothering him when I ask too many times and also I wanted to prove I was a smart girl but I was wrong because he would have preferred I got him exactly what he wanted at my first trial.

So today, I’m throwing away my pride and ignorance into the flames and reminding myself to always seek for clarity about things and not just assume or feel uninterested.

Thank you for reading through. ❤️

Very good way to look at things ! Asking questions means you are still open to learning new things. And if you ask a question repeatedly without the other person ever giving you a straight answer, it's a good way to know that something isn't quite right.....

You’re right. I agree with that part you said that when straight answers are not given to a question repeatedly, it means something is really wrong.

Thank you for your addition, Alonicus. 🥰

This post of yours makes you think a lot. The way you have explained Curiosity and the habit of asking questions, it really learns. It is true that when we grow up, we often ignore the questions and this makes us away from Clarity. Your example was very related to Bread, it clearly shows how many mistakes can be made due to assumptions. You said in a very good way that asking questions is not weakness but understanding.

it is my biggest flaw, i like to understand to the point where i get annoying, i dont like hidden, half said , blind messages.
when someone communicate it should be loud and clear...but i get into fights often
with that.
just yesterday i had a fight with a mayor not being clear with me and i made him repeat with different questions and he finally gave up and spitted the truth loud and clear the way i wanted it and i thanked him and he could go back to his day.
we are no children and this should be taught also to children.
communication is KEY.

You’re absolutely right. Most times people don’t speak up and that’s also a problem. Communication is a two way thing, one speak the other listen and then there will be a response to confirm whether or not they listened or not.

Thank you for your beautiful input, Cherie. ❤️

This is a great post, Knowledge is power and we can't stop asking and learning till death. But when we seek we will surely find , I believe every question have answer.

I believe so too. We just have to keep seeking for answers.

I was left with only one question: What did that elderly person asked you to buy?

See, this right here is something I always admire when I see it in people. A fool for five minutes is better than being a fool forever. Someone also told me to never stop asking questions. The moment I think I know it all is the moment I begin to fall. This is why I tend to pry sometimes. When I’m not sure about something, I will ask. I’d rather you tell me “don’t bother me” and I accept it and go look for answers somewhere else, than assume you don’t want to be bothered and remain a fool with my pride. So, I always ask. If I’m not sure, I ask. Trust me, my asking has gotten me into lots of trouble. Chaied! 😂

I can imagine your questions getting you into trouble. I have been there too and I know I will be in more too because these days a lot of persons don’t just know how to communicate and the best way is just not to stay ignorant and ask questions when we are not clear.

It is well. 😂

Thank you for your comment, Rara. 🌹

It's pride that prevents us from asking questions even when we are unsure. And just because we want to prove ourselves, we end up causing more problems.
It wise to always seek clarity and not assume. I will also apply these lessons to myself.
