OLDER- BECOMING BETTER

OLDER by Sasha Alex Sloan is one of those many songs that I didn’t need too much attention to grasp the message it was trying to pass. Her words were just so relatable and it was beautiful too because they came as a beautiful song lyrics. Just like Sasha, I have always wished and prayed for a whole another family, one that felt like the one I have built somewhere in my head. Actually, it’s sad that we can’t always get the things we want but I believe in a long run, we will understand that it was good for us. And I guess Sasha realized that and it inspired her to sing this song.

So, today is another day of me sharing a song with us and it’s a pleasure sharing this song by Alex Sasha with us. It’s a song about our parent’s imperfections, a song about acceptance and growth, a song about relationships, a song about letting go, a song about understanding. It’s a song that tells us the difference between what we think as children and how it really is when we become adults. The song touches on some vital aspects of understanding how to embrace things better, in a family and even in a relationship.

Sometimes, as children we always wish things will stay the way we have always known them. We don’t want any changes and that is just normal. Every human finds it hard to change and as a child, we are only proving that we are humans too. To our parents, we are already getting older so we should start accepting the reality of life. A lot of our parents strive so much to give us all the care and attention when we are little even though it feels hard for them, waiting for the time when we become old enough to show us what life really is. To them, that’s the best thing to do so we can have a strong foundation growing up.

Somehow, I feel it is both fair and unfair. It is fair because we most times won’t remember how exactly living as a child was but it is also unfair because we won’t remember those beautiful moments too. But then, our parents only did most of these things just because they felt it was the best for us. If we were in their place, there is every chance we would do the same and even worse. Our parents are humans too. We will understand better as we grow older, why they made some decisions (right or wrong) and try to either do better or worst.

We will also grow up to understand just how much they had to sacrifice that we didn’t even have any ideas about. We will understand just how much they feel hurt to see that things are not going well for the family. We will understand how much they just hold some things back because they don’t want us to get hurt. All of these might only make sense when we grow older but as a child, it might not make sense at all.

It’s a great song that will help us to reflect on how ourselves and learn to accept the facts that our parents make mistakes too. Yes, we see them as our superheroes but they are humans too. We just have to learn to let go of the hurt they have caused us, both the ones they know and the ones they don’t know. Actually, that is you getting older and understanding how things work. If we hold a grudge against our parents for too long, we won’t get the chance to find a way out to do better - to be better. So, while you’re growing older, learn to wait somethings out because that is only when it will make sense to you.

Enjoy listening to the song and feel free to leave your comments below on what you think about it.

Until next time, stay tuned. 🌹

It's amazing how one's perspective begin to change when we get older. I still can deny the fact that sometimes I wish I could go back to those good old days.

I wish for that too. I’m very sure some of us do.
