LOH 196 - WARM AND COMFY

Growing up without the love of a mother, I always yearned to feel that love and for some weird reason, I saw giving that love would help me somehow also feel it as well. Because of my yearning, I find myself always getting attracted to teddies. You know how comfy they can be, having them close to me was one way I felt like I was receiving a warm hug from my mom even though in reality she was not there.

I loved having teddies growing up but sadly I didn’t get the opportunity to have them as much as I wanted, I only had the opportunity to hold them when a friend let me hold theirs. My dad was not well to do so we were only managing and telling him I wanted a teddy wasn’t the best I could do to help him manage. I only longed to having a personal teddy but that was never a dream come true, maybe it will be someday.

I remember how I always wish that for my birthdays someone will gift me with a teddy bear but it was all in my fantasy. At some point I thought of getting one for myself but I knew I needed that money for something more pressing and it got to a point when I just hard to let go of my likeness for teddy bears. Yes I had to so I don’t feel sad every birthday of mine when I don’t get it and every time when I can’t afford one for myself but that doesn’t mean I don’t like them anymore.

Some people may see toys as being childish which might be true but then you don’t want to even imagine the comfort it gives to those who value them. My siblings and I only got toys that were cheap enough. Dad always gave us some money every day before going to school so we most times use half of that money to get new toys especially my younger brother. I bought toys but it got to a point that all I could think of was to save up those little money instead since most times the toys ended up missing.

Teddy bears was and is still my favorite toys of all time because they always feel warm and cozy. Having them close always made me feel warm and never alone. And they do look cute too. Having a teddy bear is still something I yearn for even now and I believe that no matter how long it may take, I’d definitely get one for myself someday. I guess I like teddy bears this much because I want to be like it in the aspect of being warm to those around it. It’s a teddy bear after all, it doesn’t discriminate who it wants to be warm to.

It’s weird how we can learn a thing or two even from inanimate things but I think it is possible because I did learn something from my favorite toy of all time. I guess everyone will definitely have a reason why they like a particular toy and this would be mine.
