HOW I PREPARED FRIED RICE FOR MY SISTER’S BIRTHDAY

Hello, food lovers and creators. This should be my second time here to share a food story with you and I’m super excited about it. Personally, I enjoy cooking but living as a student hasn’t been helping me in this aspect because most times I just want to grab whatever I can find and eat before heading out for my classes. I cook but it’s on occasions that I just decide to put myself first and eat healthily and well.

So, the past week I was really sick and because of that, my sister had to come over to take care of me in school. Yes, I had people that could have helped but since my sister already had plans of coming over to visit me, she just felt it was best for her to come over when I truly needed her and I find that really thoughtful of her and I’m also very grateful for what she has done for me. I can’t say all here because this is not a post for that!

The whole reason for talking about all that is because thanks God for using her and many others, I recovered from the sickness and it happened that two days ago was my sister’s birthday and despite the fact that I still needed a lot of rest, I still decided to help her prepare something nice to celebrate her birthday. We agreed to prepare fried rice and beef. I was scared at first because I know I feel tired easily but I wanted to do this for my sister so I just made up my mind I was going to do it.

We got everything needed for it and without further ado, I’ll share with you all the simple process of how I made a delicious food for my sister’s birthday.

For preparing fried rice, there are some basic recipes that are needed like;

  • Rice
  • bell peppers
  • spring onions
  • green beans
  • sweet corn
  • carrots
  • scallions
  • groundnut oil

There are other ingredients I used but they are not something that can be found anywhere but they all added up to make my fried rice really tasty.

The first thing I did was to steam my beef. I was really intentional about the beef because I had very good plans for the beef stock.

I diced everything that needed dicing like my spring onions, carrots, bell peppers and scallions. These are how they looked.

After that, I proceeded to preparing my rice. I didn’t parboil it. I just boiled water and soaked it inside, well covered.

After soaking the rice for some minutes, I washed it and added it to the beef stock I already put back on the gas. I had already added some other spices to give my fried rice the look I wanted. I added more water to just cover the rice a little so it won’t be too soft.

After some minutes, the rice was ready and this is how it looks like.

I fried my beef to golden brown to make it a little crunchy and it was really nice.

I proceeded to frying my vegetables. That didn’t take long at all because they are vegetables.

Immediately I was done frying the vegetables for just few minutes, I served some rice and added some vegetables, mixed properly and my delicious meal was ready!

Thank you so much for reading through. ❤️
