EASY ACCESS, ELEVATED EXPECTATIONS

Looking back at how information has evolved over the years, at some point we might have to question whether things have gotten better or not. Back in days, our ancestors made discoveries and we saw how improvements were made on these discoveries as the years went by. This is so because, there were some errors made, wrong speculations and as more researches were made, corrections and adjustments were made. This happened due to the limited access to data and good equipments and facilities in their time but that didn’t stop them from trying. In our world today, a lot of things have changed because we have more access to information and data than our ancestors but then, this might not necessarily mean we are more intelligent than they were.

Having easy access to information doesn’t automatically mean we are going to be more knowledgeable and that is because even in the availability of these information, if we don’t make use of it well, we still won’t get the knowledge that we can from it and also, if we abuse the information we have access to, it is possible to have information overload which won’t be nice at all. In our time today, we can see how a lot of persons try to acquire so much information because they don’t want to be left out but not all of them are privileged to master at least one. It is good to an extent but also a disadvantage.

Our fathers had better depth of knowledge to the things that they were exposed to because they had to do more critical thinking than we do today. They were faced with more problem solving situations than us in this time. We hardly ever do real critical thinking now because we have easy access to information even in the restroom and we can easily pick up our devices and make a research when it is needed. This has therefore affected our ability to retain information for a longer time than our ancestors.

In as much as our ancestors seem to have taken acquiring knowledge more seriously than this era, they also had their challenges too at that time that still limited them at some point. I’d say this era is more intelligent than the times of our ancestors and this is because, we have access to more information than them which means more work to do. So, if we make good use of it, we are definitely going to be way smarter and intelligent than they were. The problem we are having now is that, because of the so much information we are exposed to, we don’t appreciate the ones we have acquired because we feel we haven’t acquired enough.

One thing I know is, if our ancestors had access to 20% of these information we have today, they would have done better and that is why I’d rather believe that this era is still way smarter and intelligent because we have more on our plates than those who have gone before us but still, I believe our ancestors weren’t any less intelligent too.

Taking a look at the inventions we have today, we will see that just like our ancestors created cool things in their time, we also have some great innovations today. They had their setbacks and so do we. To an extent, we are even more challenged now to be more intellectual and smart because the world is evolving daily and we have to meet up. And like I mentioned before, the problems we are facing now is the fact that we don’t engage in enough critical thinking as our ancestors but that does mean we don’t at all but compared to the information we have at our fingertips, we are just expected to do better and that’s why I feel we are better.

Anyways, these are my thoughts on the topic ”IS EASY ACCESS A BLESSING”. It will be nice to hear what you think too. Thanks for reading through.

Yeah. You are right. Now I know why we can't retain information for a long time like our forefathers.
Thanks for sharing

I agree with your statement, with the development of technology, of course we are getting information more easily and if compared to our ancestors in the past, they prioritized energy, but in the current era we use our minds more.

I totally agree with you, easy access doesn't mean we're less smarter than our ancestors.
Although people rather Google their answers than think, it doesn't change the fact that people in our time are creating ground breaking things and finding cures to certain diseases..

Yeah. The only problem I see is that we are becoming more dependent on the internet than using our brains to think.

Thanks for your input, Meya.

this is a agreeable fact. Though our ancestors are not all that smart, they actually try to set a solid foundation for us.

Yeah? I agree with the part that they try to prepare the foundation for us.
