CRYPTOCURRENCY AND MY GOVERNMENT

Sometimes I do feel like I don't even belong to my country because I literally don't know what's going on and even if I know, it's just the little that concerns me a little which is bad. There was a time when I was interested in knowing what's going on in my country and that was because I didn't had an option of not staying updated because my dad had a radio so he always Listens to the news.

I enjoyed it back then because it made me stand out from some of my peers back then but all of a sudden my interest in listening to the news dropped because I had limited access to it. The fact that I wasn't so bothered about it lead to the reason why I know little or nothing about the happenings in my country. But anyways, thanks to hive, I've grown interest in reading a lot so I try to stay up to date little by little through some articles I come across.

Especially in the aspect of crypto, I'm so interested in it because I do earn in crypto and that's all thanks first to the hive blockchain and then others. Back in 2018 was the first time I heard the word crypto and like so many of us, I wasn't interested in it at all because it felt like a complete scam. That was also the first time I heard of Bitcoin and ethereum but I wasn't sure how to even start investing in it because I was scared I would have lost my money and got scammed.

Not until late 2021 I got involved with hive and everything began to get clearer. My country had a major issue with crypto currency especially due to the continuous alarm of internet fraud. It was so rampant and it was so hard to curtail due to the fact that most of these fraudster started using Crypto currencies for their activities making it almost impossible for them to be caught. It's mostly due to this that the government placed a ban on cryptocurrencies in my country.

Despite the ban that was placed on it, it never stopped these criminal activities, infact it felt like it even worsen everything. Somehow these fraudster kept looking for a way out and that somehow hindered so many people from seeing the benefits of cryptocurrencies. Fast forward to today, the government are currently strongly against the use of cryptocurrencies as they see it's existence as the cause of the drop in our local currency.

At first when I heard the government had banned the use of one of our major exchange marketing platform Binance, I was worried but also not worried because I know there was going to be a way somehow and I'm glad I wasn't wrong. I never allowed that disturb my activities on hive because I know that worst comes to worst, the hive blockchain and all it's Devs will come up with a better idea to make hive accessible to everyone!

And also, there has been several moves on how to make the HBD an acceptable form of payment, so worst comes to worse, we just have to get more people to believe in the hive blockchain so everyone can easily buy and sell with hive or HBD. So despite the fact that my country is finding it hard to accept Crypto currencies, I'm still very much active with hive because I believe there is always going to be a way around every problem.

Due to the different policies on crypto in my country, it has made me Learnt more about different trading platforms and also widen my scope of learning. These challenges that has befallen us has paved a way for so many of us to learn more things and add to our knowledge. I have gotten to discover other exchanges where I can convert my usdt to Naira. I'd recommend you read this post by @vickoly to find out how you can go about it.

No matter what happens, I always believe that as long as there is a problem, the solution is also going to be readily available. So to us who live here in Nigeria, we shouldn't be couraged by our government's stand on crypto currency. There is always a way around it and you can find that in full dose on sir Vickoly's post (My grandpa as I like to call him 🤭).

That's all for my response to the topic chosen for this edition in the Hivelearners community on "CRYPTO NEWS".

Thanks to grandpa 😃 for giving us full details on how to go about using bybit to start trading again just as we've been doing on binance.
I trust my country, there will always be another way. Lols

Good post ! What governments forget is that a truly decentralised crypto (like HIVE or Monero) is incredibly hard for them to stop.

If people are happy to pay and accept payment in it, then it'll exist outside of government control, even if it has to go underground. They might be able to block centralised exchanges, but peer-to-peer transactions could only be blocked if they monitored everything people did on their mobile phones, and that's the kind of thing that causes civil unrest.

Problem will always have a strong solution just that some government takes time to accept these solutions.

The government could derive other means to eradicate fraud but banning cryptocurrency won't do that.
They need to understand the good side of this modern technology maybe it will change their narratives concerning crypto..
