BLACK, SIMPLE AND CLASSY

Hello needleworkers and creative lovers, it’s another week and for this week, I have something to share with you all and I do hope you love it! I’m beginning to get a hang of things now but I don’t think making posts like this is something that I can do even twice in a week because it’s not an easy task at all! I wonder how @glorydee does it 🥹, I greet her and many others I don’t know even know.

So without further ado, let’s dive into what I have for us today. Creating a dress for myself is something I enjoy doing because it is mine after all so if I was to make any errors, I don’t have to be too worried about it because it’s my hand work, hehe. So this time, I wanted a black gown but a really simple but classy one. I did my research to search for the kind of style I wanted but I couldn’t see any because the styles were getting too much.

After much searching, I just decided to go with what seemed close to what I wanted. So I went for a wrap or cross gown! When I saw it, I loved it but I just wanted to search for more just incase there was more.

So below are the things I made use of

  • Black Fabric
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Iron

So it’s no longer new that I enjoy ironing my clothes while sewing because that’s what my sister does when she makes clothes. So that was part of the first things we did even before cutting to make it smooth. My sister did the cutting for me and I did the sewing.

She cut the back of the dress first and then the front by taking away the neck section and then the part that makes the wrap. It was easy while I watch her do it but I know if I were to try it I wouldn’t have gotten it right. So I had to just watch her do it.

She also cut out the rope to make the wrap go round and then that was all. It was now left for me to make the gown out of what she has cut out for me.

The first thing I did was to use a bias to turn the neck to make it look neat.

After that I joined the shoulders together. I also joined the sides too by just an inch.

I then tried to add the ropes but I encountered a bit of a challenge but I finally got it right at the 3rd trial.

I had to sew all the edges to make it look neater and professional and there you have it, my beautiful simple black dress!

I did some fitting and it was just perfect! I added a press button to the first wrap to make it easy to wear.

Here’s a quick gif of me fitting it on myself.

The next time I wore it was for my birthday but sadly I didn’t take a picture of myself that day because I was more concerned about my exams.

Anyways, this style is simple but classy, don’t hesitate trying it out if you want to. Thank you for stopping by 🤭❤️.
