A-Z PLANS

Living in a world where nothing is certain, it’s just best to have alphabetical plans, plan A-Z hehe. Right now, my major source of income is online but if it was to be taken away, I still have other ways to survive. I like to see myself as someone that can survive any kind of situation I'm in. But I do complain and even think of giving up sometimes but I can be resilient when I want to.

So based on the hivelearners topic for this week’s first edition, we are asked to share our practical skills. I guess because my name is Gifted, I seem to have a lot of talents that won’t let me ever grow broke for too long. God has blessed me with so many things that I can use to survive any situation. I remember the first skill I discovered I had was how to make hair styles. It was just like a joke how I started making people’s hair and today it’s one of those skills I can use to survive if anything was to go wrong with my online career.

I have known how to make hair for over 12 years now. I was very young when I started making money from hair do. I spent months trying to improve on it but I later stopped because I found it stressful and time consuming. The time I spent making one’s hair is enough to rest and make even more online. But if anything happens to my online career, it's a good skill to fall back to.

And besides hair making, I have several other things that I’m quite good at and I believe they can fetch me good income offline. Some of those things include laundry and cleaning, babysitting and cooking. I learnt laundry while working with a friend after my secondary school examination. I can always start looking for people who need help with cleaners and laundry services. These jobs are quite stressful but I’m good at them and I would need a little more training to get more knowledge on how to be more professional.

I’m also good at babysitting. I was around 10 years old when I first took care of two children for a whole day. Those children were really stubborn but somehow, I managed to keep them in check. It wasn’t easy but I figured out what works for them and that helped me. And ever since, I have had the opportunity to take care of other children and I have more experiences with different kinds of children that I believe will help me do a better job with other children too. Of course I’ll meet some really tough children but I know it’s only a matter of time to understand and care for them.

For now, I’m not professional at any of these skills but it won’t take me so much time to master them if I put my mind to them. So if for some reasons the online space disappears, I’m fully covered. And besides all of that, currently I’m studying physiology in school and that is another good opportunity for me if I come out with a good grade. There are actually so many opportunities in this line of study and I believe that even if others don’t work out, the knowledge I will get from this course will come really handy.

So no matter what the future holds for me, I believe that there will always be a way of escape for me because God has blessed me with all and even more than I asked for.
