A SURVIVOR

It's over 20 years I have lived there in this country called Nigeria and it's actually safe to say that things have only gotten worst. But somehow I still have faith that everything will be fine someday, lol. I've seen how the prices of goods just keeps going up but hardly ever comes down. Nowadays is even worst because anytime you go to the market to get something it's hard that you'd ever get something at the old price.

There is always an increase in the price and that's not all, it always ends up feeling like you did not pay for the goods but you begged for it. Most sellers would call an outrageous price for something that they never got at a particular price and make you beg to pay for it even more than they should have sold it. In their defense, they try to make you feel like they are selling it to you at a price they are not getting any profit from it.

Now it's obvious that the market is a place where most people just want to gain as many profits as possible and they forget that it could have a great consequences on others. Compared to most countries that I've heard of, Nigeria is still a country that has things at quite an affordable price the only problem is men keep getting greedier by the day. Nigeria is a place that anyone can survive in as long as you have something doing.

As for the services here in my country, it's a bit sad because you can hardly get a job that pays you well and even if you do it wouldn't be so easy for you to secure such Job. Services are less paid in Nigeria and in that aspect I think other countries are doing way better than mine because I've heard quite a few things about how much workers are payed in other countries but then in the end it's still going to be hard for a Nigerian to survive in that country.

No matter the money I have here in Nigeria, it's not going to be enough to start over in a new country except there is support from somewhere or someone especially in terms of accommodation. Although there are countries where I can get to live a good life if I go there with my earnings but then those countries are the least on my mind, no I'd rather stay in Nigeria than go there to live.

As it stands, I don't plan relocating to any country to live for the rest of my life. My dream has always been traveling to visit different part of the world. Despite how things seems so hard in Nigeria, I'm still living well and I'm so contented with what I have. Yes, I'm still working hard to get more for myself but if I'm ever leaving this country due to finding greener pastures (I believe I'd find it here) I'd be more happier if it's for a visit, business trip or a vacation.

My cost of living is expensive right now but it isn't beyond me. It might get worst or better but then I'm always expecting the worst and praying for the best. This is my response to the Hivelearners topic on "WHAT'S YOUR COST OF LIVING?".

I have always hear years ago that things will get better in this country called Nigeria but it looks like as the year goes by, babe, reverse is the case oo. Things are getting more expensive and more expensive. Things are getting harder and harder also. Well I am still optimistic that the future is bright for Nigeria

That's humans for us, always trying to be positive. Well I believe things would have indeed become better if only we put in more effort individually.

I'm very much optimistic about this country because as they say, nothing good comes easy.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts

It keeps getting tougher, just like the previous government, things were better then than now. It seems we haven't yet seen the worst to come.

Exactly, that is how it seems. But sometimes I do wonder how the government manages with all our complaining and murmuring. I guess they've just given up and saying that there is nothing they will do to stop their citizens from complaining.

I do believe that anyone that rules didn't get there without God knowing so that's why I'm always hopeful.

You shared the challenges faced by the residents lived in Nigeria.Due to Low wage income and high inflation rate it is impossible to stay in Nigeria. You preffered to travel in world rather than to relocate permanently.

Inflation rate in nigeria is way higher than my country, I can't even imagine the struggle you guys are going from. It's hard very, hard but hopefully this time will pass too. I wish you guys best of luck.

Hello there, Hope. I hope this meets you well.
During my secondary school days, my house wasn't so close to school, so I had to take a bike every day. I spent nothing more than #150 ever day.

Today, #150 is almost useless. If I were still going to school, I'd spend nothing less than #600 every day. From #150 to #600. Tell me, Hope. Isn't that Amusing?

NIGERIA will get better? When, Hope? When?

This is amazing. You are right. Since we have been experiencing this moment with high cost of living and we aren't killed by it, sure, we will always overcome any hurdles by God's grace.
If I would travel out of the country, it would be for vacation or my education. Nigeria is still better compared to other countries except I am assured of them settling all my bills 😅

I am sure you wouldn't love to know my cost of living 😂

You are right, me and you are on the same table, no matter the hardship in Nigeria,I still don't see myself relocating to another country. Though like you said, I too will rather travel and explore other countries than to relocate.

Let us face our cross😂

Exactly, is not as if we are dying so that obviously means we are getting stronger, hehe.

Thank you so much for your comment, but I'd love to know the cost of your living 😂
