Strengthening Bonds Through General PTA Meeting

The General PTA Meeting brought together parents and teachers to discuss the school's condition, and our shared responsibilities in supporting the students. As a classroom president, I made sure to attend and witness the discussions.

After the Homeroom PTA meeting weeks ago, my child’s school held a General PTA meeting after, to be attended by all parents and teachers of the school. As the President of our classroom, I felt it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t attend. Usually, not all parents join this kind of meeting as they think it’s not really necessary, but in truth, it is very important since it informs you about the school’s condition, your child’s development, and your responsibilities as a parent.

The meeting was scheduled at 8:00 a.m. I got ready early and left around 7:30 a.m.

When I arrived at school, I thought the meeting had already started, but fortunately, it hadn’t.

I began looking for other parents and classroom officers from our child’s section, but unfortunately, I didn’t see many. Only two of us officers from the morning session attended the meeting. Most of the others who came were from the afternoon session. We looked for the kindergarten area, where we were assigned to sit, and we settled on the left wing of the gymnasium.

The meeting started around 9:00 a.m. We first sang the national anthem, followed by an opening prayer.

After the introduction and welcoming
coming remarks, we decided to step out for a while to have some coffee since we hadn’t eaten breakfast yet. We also needed to buy food to contribute to the table because the teacher had told us to bring something for snacks or a meal. Sadly, no one from our session brought any, so we really had to buy for the get-together of all parents after the meeting.
We spent about 30 minutes outside for coffee and to buy food, then returned to the gymnasium and placed what we bought on the table.

Thankfully, I was still able to catch the discussion about the agenda of the meeting.
The principal talked about the school’s needs, upcoming activities, responsibilities, there's also a portion where they allowed everyone to raise if they have any confusions, objections or questions, but fortunately it was all made clear and we all agree in unity.
We all understood the importance of what was discussed in the Agenda.

After that, a group also presented a program that encourages children to open a bank account and save for themselves.

There was also a raffle for those who came early, and the winners received 5 kilos of rice, which was not bad at all.

The General PTA Meeting was a good reminder that parent involvement makes a difference. By showing up and participating, and also to avoid confusion that would light up an issue about the school, teachers, staffs and students,it can also help build a stronger school community for our children.”

That’s all for today’s post. Thanks for reading.
