Even though the day was gloomy, I still decided to take a walk. Thank God it’s Friday, which means I could spend some time for myself, away from work and family responsibilities. I make it a point to take a walk and enjoy a coffee at least once a week to release the heaviness in my body and breathe some fresh air.

I walked to the city’s capitol grounds with my child because it is green and the ambiance is pleasant. It took only 15 minutes to get here.

I spent some time walking around the capitol grounds, and when I grew tired, I was about to walk to the main part of the city to find a coffee shop. However, I noticed a coffee truck nearby and was curious to see what it offered.

I approached it slowly to see their offerings and was pleasantly surprised that their prices were very reasonable, mostly around $1. Since I was already tired from walking to the city in search of a coffee shop, I decided to have my coffee here instead.

Although the gloomy weather would have been perfect for hot coffee, I prefer cold drinks. I had already set my eyes on the caramel latte iced coffee, so I ordered it. My child ordered the bubble gum fruit soda. It was a bit disappointing that they did not offer any snacks to accompany the drinks.

While the owner was preparing our orders, I had the opportunity to chat with him briefly. I learned that he is a 'Lumad,' meaning he is a native, and that his coffee truck represents his culture. He is also a volunteer, like me, who participates in meaningful activities that support the community.

Once the coffee was ready, I thought we would have to sit on the grass, as I saw no tables or chairs. Fortunately, the owner pulled out some foldable chairs and a table from the truck and offered them to us. A vendor of fried peanuts also passed by so I bought 1 pack just to have something to be paired with our drinks. We then enjoyed our drinks comfortably.

The caramel latte iced coffee tasted just right for its price. While it was not particularly remarkable, it was satisfying. On the other hand, the bubble gum fruit soda was delightful, and I enjoyed it even more than the coffee. I wanted to order another one cause my son would not let me sip more, but we needed to finish this asap to return home before the rain arrived.

Overall, our experience was wonderful. It felt like sitting beside the street with our drinks, but the green surroundings made it far more enjoyable.

By the time we walked home, the simple pleasures of the day,fresh air, a refreshing coffee, and quality time with my child had left me feeling relaxed and grateful. It was a small adventure, it's important to pause, enjoy the little things, and savor moments of calm amidst the busyness of life.
