BRICS is a grouping of the world's economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, formed by adding South Africa in 2010 to the predecessor BRICS. The original acronym "BRIC" (or "BRICs") was coined in 2001 by Goldman Sachs economist Jim O'Neill to describe the fast-growing economies that will collectively dominate the global economy by 2050.
