I Want To Do God's Will: MCGI Topic Review
Sometimes in life, you have been in a moment where you felt so frustrated for yourself. And each time you see yourself doing things you hate so much.
As a Christian, maybe you have made promises to God or to yourself that you will never try that again. But only to fall back to the same sin the next day. And if that person is you, then I want you to know you are never in this alone. Many believers are struggling in this kind of situation.
In the book of Romans 7:19. From this Bible passage, you can see this is a confession from Paul. It is not from a weak man, but it is from a strong apostle known as Paul. Who is a very deeply spiritual.
NIV Version
Please note, Paul was not justifying his wrongdoings. He was just describing those inner battles that he keeps fighting as a believer. And which is the struggle between flesh and spirit.
So, tell me, how did Paul manage to overcome these temptations and trials of the flesh? First, we have to come to the reality. That it is not just enough to conquer sin with your human strength.
In Romans 7:20, Paul also said "sin that dwelleth in me". That means sin is the power that keeps dragging you to do the same thing all over again and all over again.
Without having the full control over it. No matter how you try very hard to remove sin from your flesh. You might not succeed.
It is not easy to deal with it.
That is why, when Paul was met by Christ on his way to Damascus. One of the first instructions I was giving to him was a self-help lesson. It was a command that he should arise and be baptised and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. This can be seen in the book of Acts 22 vs 16.
So, the first step is by forgiving and cleansing your sin. Which is forgiveness and cleansing. We must humble ourselves and allow God to forgive our sins. To have his way in our life. Both inside and outside.
But remember this journey does not end only here.
In Titus 25, Paul also shares some incidents with his fellow believers. Which he said "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us by washing out our sins, by washing out our sins. And renewing of the Holy Ghost".
I think this is a secret we have overlooked for so long, we cannot do it alone, we need the Holy Spirit to help us. The real transformation doesn't come by our discipline or with power, it comes only when we renew to walk with the Holy Spirit.
So how can a person stop wrongdoing and begin obeying God.
First of all we have to acknowledge and admit that we are not in this battle alone and we cannot win it alone.
Second we should seek for forgiveness. We can seek for forgiveness and from past and getting washed away from past sins and past lives. We can also ask the Holy Spirit to come into us. So we need a power beyond ourselves to change and we keep meditating on God's words.
Let the word of God guide us and lead us everyday in our lives.
- And the last one. We should always remain humble and prayerful. God resists the proud but he have mercy on the humble
We should be humble always and be prayerful. In the end of it all, we are not perfect, but through the mercy of God and his forgiveness and with our encounter with the Holy Spirit, we can become a believer of obedience just like Paul.
If Paul can change after all his sins, so we too we can as a believer. All we need is to survive as a believer.
