How Absence Teaches Us More Than Abundance

Sometimes in life, we often or mostly chase abundance.

We need more money, we need more stuff, we need more friends, we need more opportunities to present itself, thinking that is the only key to happiness. But I think here is the truth that might stop you in this wrong track.

The essence of something can be a far better teacher than just having it all. When we lack, we learn more. When we are without, we grow more. And in these quiet moments of our scarcity, that is when life whispers a lesson that abundance won't often teach you.

It's easy to just swipe your card without a second thought. But when the money is tight, every purchase, you must put it into details and it becomes a choice, a chance to weigh what really matters and what doesn't.

I remember when I was down to my last few bucks, I didn't just learn how to budget well.
I discovered that I could live with that and with what I think always brought me joy. The presence of absence taught me to value experiences over things like a homemade meal with friends, over an overpriced restaurant.

It forced me to be creative, to stretch what I had and to find gratitude in the little strengths or the little things I see around me. Or take time, when it's schedule, you watch through life, barely noticing the moment that matter, but when time is scarce. Say during a tough week when you're juggling deadlines, you learn to prioritize, you figure out what really matters and what deserves your energy and what is not worth your attention.

I remember in the season when I was stressed in, the lack of free time taught me to say no, things that didn't line me up. That scarcity carved out space for what truly fueled my soul. Even love in its absence can be a profound teacher. When you're lonely, it pushes you to connect more deeply with yourself and others.

This is not just about being quiet. This is just a moment where you need to stay in and learn what you need and how to show upauthentically for people in your life. Absence is very important and it can strip away the flaws and reveal what truly matters.

The beauty of lack is that it forces us to dig deeper. It's not about suffering. It's about the clarity you have in your mind. When we don't have everything handed to us, we learn resilience, consistency, persistency and gratitude.

We start to see the world with another view, not what it offers when we pay attention. So the next time you find yourself lacking something, money, time or anything, don't despair. Embrace it. Let absence be your best teacher, guiding you to a richer, wiser, more intentional in life.
