Christian Life - a prayerful life
Christian Life - a prayerful life
An African adage says, "... the potency of a man is when faced with challenges!” As a Christian, we should be aware that prayer is one of the tools that sustains our living. We tend to be vulnerable when we don’t pray as Christians.
However, the point I want to portray in this topic is who do we pray for? As simple as the question is, Christian may possibly not know the answer to it. Why? It is because some people think life is all about themselves alone. No! Even your enemies matter to you, and it is your duty as a Christian to pray for them. Praying for your enemies shows how much you love them even if they have hurt you.
As shared in Bro. Eli’s teaching, I Timothy 2:1-3—
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
It is clear from what we read above that the virtue of a Christian is to be full of prayers in his life. Having been full of prayers, it is expected we exercise what we have by praying for others—authorities in government and fellow Christians—and also we have to pray even for those who are persecuting us.
Jesus gave us an instruction in Matthew 5:44—
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Since we are His disciples, we have to obey His command.
Conclusively, as Bro. Eli rightly said, “… your conscience is a good conscience if you know how to pray for other people.”
