Here are some photographic postcards from my last trip to Ciudad Bolívar, Bolívar State, Venezuela, a place characterized by its ancient architecture and its setting nestled between the mighty Orinoco River. However, this time, my focus was more on the people in the scene, taking advantage of those elements in the background, which of course lend weight to these images I captured that day. It was a very cloudy day with a light rain, but in the end, it didn't matter for what I wanted to do. Took the new bicycle out yesterday for my first ever "explore" ride. There are bike trails here in town but for the most part these are near the main roads which means you ears are going to be assaulted by the never ending barrage of horn honking that goes on here in Da Nang, so instead I opt to go "exploring" where I choose a nautical direction, try to avoid the main roads, and then just see what is out there. For the most part this means I am intentionally riding on roads that are not yet complete, or perhaps aren't going to be complete. There isn't much chance of getting too terribly lost because almost all of the roads in Da Nang are made in a grid pattern ...

Back in May, I shot the second edition of the annual Roots Revue music festival here in Louisville. It was supposed to be for a piece in the local alternative weekly paper, but the writer I was working with has been having a hard time of it lately and I don't know if anything will come of it. Not really concerned about it, the press pass was all I was getting paid anyways. Journalism isn't really what I'd call a paying career these days, the paper wasn't going to pay either of us for the piece ...

This morning I felt like having fun with some pebbles between the household chores. The washing machine finished its work, I had already arrived home from the bakery with freshly baked bread, and before starting to tidy a closet and start cooking, I pulled out some pebbles and colours from a forgotten place — the drawer where the material for the kindness rocks had been slept already for a while. As if I had nothing else to do, I had fun dressing these pebbles in blue. 😆 To be honest, I coloured two in pink and two in blue, and thought about painting the other ones in yellow and white ...
