What If We Find Ourselves In This State?

It will actually be terrible, and there will be lots of clashes with the communals.

Happy weekend to you all my friends here and betond, amazingly it is the end of the month two as we are welcoming the next month called march some hours from now. We are left in the state to imagine what things will look like if the roads we have today are owned by companies or even individuals. In the country where I come from, it makes us think of severally, which may finally not happen, but sha, we get to think, reason being that lots of social amenities that the populace is supposed to have at their disposal are not there at all. When you get to travel to some parts of the country, you are forced to think if actually this region is part of the nation at large.

One of my friends, towards the festive season last year, said that most times people don't consider the stress they go through while trying to get to a desired goal; what they just do is look at the goal ahead of them, and he gave an instance with the Eastern roads. He said Igbos think less of how bad their road is and just focus on their village, which is the goal. The very day I saw that post, I laughed so much, but that's true. Now, it is the same country that some people don't even know what is a bad road or power outage, but we at the Eastern part, it's another story for us. So if a company comes up today to construct that same road and bend on receiving payment from the citizens, it may look somehow, but at the same time, I may not see it as something that is too bad.

Now, when it is individually owned, there may be more sense of maintenance looking at the mentality we have over here that people don't tend to care for what is owned by the government. If the roads are owned by individuals who I know at the end will pay tax to the government, the maintenance may be better off. In my opening speech, I said it's going to be a terrible experience for the road to be owned by private individuals; here are my reasons. The people living in that community are not in any way excluded from this payment, so as a result of this, there is going to be lots of clash with the communals.

Because they will feel like, how will they have to pay for making use of the road in their ancestral place? Presently, there is a case between a school owner and the community. He told them to stop using a particular road, and those in that community told him that that road had been in use by them far before he purchased that site for his institution, and to date the case is still at the court. He is not bowing; neither is the community. So this is a little we see now, so if it is now that he fixes that road and asks them to pay, it will be more bloody, I think. So to this, my take is for the government to fix the roads, as it is in his jurisdiction to do so.

Presently, the president built a toll gate in parts of the country, which he is using to generate revenue for the country. So if it's from the government directly, even if there may be one or two complaints, it will not be so much to compare to when it is privatized. My entry to the last edition of this week's contest in the community. Thank you for reading.
