Travel Is Part Of Learning: It Is Just Part Of Me

Traveling is one of the ways to learn because by this we are exposed to lots of new places and things. When it comes to travel with a group, we have the opportunity to interact with people from different backgrounds and who have diverse ways of seeing things.

For the few years I have spent on earth, I can comfortably count up to twenty-four states I have traveled to. Before I got married, hardly a full month would pass without me journeying to one or more states. Distance is nothing to me; mostly I prefer to travel with a night bus, the reason being that we will depart in the evening then I will arrive at my destination the next morning to continue with my day's activities.

One night journey that made me have a rethink was when my son was just a few months away from one year. While I journeyed to the eastern part of my country, it happened that the vehicle we boarded was not so good; the journey of twelve hours lasted for almost forty-eight hours, and I was also pregnant. My siblings were not happy with me at all; they just told me straight up that next time I want to make such a journey, I should go alone and not take the kids along.I, who made that journey almost every month, am now forced to stay within for almost one year.

The last journey I could vividly remember was last year in August during the long vacation. My family and I went for a clergy children retreat. We actually traveled in a group. One major thing I enjoyed during this trip was the fact that everyone coordinated himself despite the fact that we came from different backgrounds. There was no feeling of this one is the eldest or I have more money than this person or that person. It was a moment of refreshing, and I always look forward to it every year.The next journey I am supposed to take should come up by the same August.

Presently I am not so happy because it is going to be another clergy children's retreat, but I will be missing in action. My little boy is just too tender to be exposed to the public as such. The only reason that will make me have a rethink is if the venue will have the convenience that everything I need will be readily available so I won't have to think of moving things up and down and considering the older kids now. Making a journey with kids is not an easy thing at all because, well, we'll be meant to take a lot of things along so that the hosts won't feel exhausted.

One journey that i wish to make without minding the inconveniences is traveling home to see my parents back in the East. Seen it will be two whole weeks i haven't met with any of my family members and this time i won't say i think am home sick, i am home sick. As a married woman with kids, just standing up to embark on a journey won't be so possible, so I just pray for a good event to come so we can meet to enjoy together as a family.
