A Surprise Catch at Dewata Beach – A Lesson from the Sea
Yesterday, while traveling to Galle town, I noticed a large crowd gathered along the Devata beach. Curious about what was happening, I decided to stop and take a closer look. A group of fishermen were pulling in their fishing nets from the sea, and many people had surrounded them to witness the scene. The atmosphere was lively and filled with excitement.

As I moved closer, I saw that the fishermen had caught a large number of small fish. There were so many of them shining under the sunlight, creating a beautiful silver glow along the shore. What made the moment even more special was that among the usual varieties, there were several types of fish that we do not normally get to see. It was truly a rare and fascinating sight.

Seeing this, I felt it was a wonderful opportunity for my elder child to experience something different and educational. In today’s busy world, children often learn about marine life only through books or screens. But here, right before our eyes, was a real-life lesson from nature. My child observed the fishermen working together, pulling the heavy net with great effort and teamwork. It was also a chance to understand how much hard work goes into bringing seafood to our tables.

The smell of the sea breeze, the sound of waves crashing, and the excitement of the crowd created a memorable moment for us. Watching the fishermen carefully separate the fish and prepare them for sale reminded me of the importance of our local fishing communities. Their dedication supports many families and contributes greatly to our daily meals.

It was a simple yet meaningful experience. Sometimes, unexpected moments like this turn into beautiful memories. I was happy that we stopped to witness this scene, and even happier that my child could learn something valuable from it. The sea always has a story to tell, and yesterday, we were lucky enough to be part of one.
Thank you reading.
Have A nice day.
