Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration

Congratulations to all the girls! It is a good year for everyone of us; as Menstrual hygiene is coming up on the 28th of May, 2025. We are soliciting for the support to help girls in the Odo-Ayadelu community. Odo-Ayandelu is a low-income and rural community. Loveandlaughfoindation teams have worked through the whole community and discovered that some of the girls did not understand what Menstrual hygiene means. When I worked through the community at the beginning of this year, I saw a girl at age of 10; and I asked her, “what is menstrual hygiene?" The funniest thing was that she was looking at me! According to our findings, some of the girls don't have the knowledge about their menstruation before it begins. The pathetic story I heard about the lady that used a rag to clean her body when she saw her first menstruation (Menarche) got me thinking. Another story of a lady that started crying when she saw her period while she was in a class caught my attention in the Odo-Ayandelu community. There are a series of stories that got me captivated to organize a program for the girls in the community.

Support from hive community We are soliciting for support in the hive community and everyone for support. Your support goes a long way to help girls in the Odo-Ayandelu community. Our program are:

**Organize Workshops and Seminars to educate girls about menstrual hygiene**

We are making progress to organize a workshop in both junior and senior secondary school Odo-Ayandelu communities. We are using the premises because 98% of the students are from the community; and we don't need to pay money to get a place to use. We have talked with the principal and she gave us a directive to use it. We are planning to educate girls particularly about menstrual Hygiene How to prepare yourself before menstruation, how to take care of yourself during menstrual period, and signs to expect before menstruation and many more. We have people who are professional and skillful to handle the topic such as Bosede and Ibukun. We have invited them to give us a talk about it, and I have received feedback that only one of them will be ready for the program; the other lady will not be available. I'm not going to pay them anything because it is a voluntary service.

We plan to distribute sanitary pads to every girl that has started menstruating. We planned to distribute 100 pads for them, depending on the amount we have capacity to get. Though, our budget right now can only afford to get 30 pads; but we believe that more people will support this project.

We have contacted a foundation called ‘’period talk with Bosede; she and her foundation have responded to us to help with some resources we are going to share. Though she did not tell us the amount of sanitary pads she will be given to support us, it was positive feedback.

Since I'm into hive, I am using this opportunity to write to hive ecosystem, and everyone outside hive that wants to support us. Nothing is too small for this project! Whatever you contribute is massive and good to us. We plan to share drinks and biscuits for the attendees, and we accept both resources and anything you want to use to support us. If you support with 1 sanitary pad, it will go a long way, and if you support with a pack of biscuit or drink, it goes a long way. We would be grateful for any form of support, whether financial, advice, materials and many more.

Our previous project
