How Politicians Impoverished My City
Most African countries are underdeveloped….. and where I'm living is part of Africa.
A developed city is a well structured city, where the citizens of the city can afford three meals per day and all the basic needs are met.
A developed city has a good system of transportation: when I watched some videos about London, I discovered how the government made provisions for transportation in an easy way.
Their Railway system and motor Roads are top notch. There are some places I saw on Facebook that are made for trekking and bicycles.
A well developed transportation system made it difficult for London to experience road traffic everyday.
Industrialization: I think industrialization is one of the factors, people are traveling to London. That is the reason people are searching for jobs in London.
Some wealthy men preferred to travel to London for vacation, tourism and more; and I believe that it is because of the development of the city that made people travel to London for many activities.
Uninterrupted Utilities: I will soon go to London for a Tour and Holiday! I have never stayed in a place with 7 days of uninterrupted power supply. I have heard of uninterrupted Utilities including water, gas and power. Unless you refuse to pay bills for what you are using, that is when the government will disconnect from enjoying them.
One of the places to get skilled workers is a developed City: the majority of skilled workers prefer to work in a developed place rather than an under-developing City. That is the reason people who are skilled move from a rural to urban area.
An Undeveloped city is a city that lacks most of the things In a developed City such as industries, good transportation system, social amenities and resources to support the needs of residents.
My place lacks the following which made it underdeveloped:-
Lack of Basic Services: If you don't have a borehole or well, such one will not have access to water. We don't even know if the water from underground is contaminated or not; we don't know if it is clean or not, all that we want is access to water.
Government has failed us to provide clean water to the residents.
Security is nothing to write about! While the robbery is going on here, calling 112 is a waste of time. because the response we get is not palatable.
that is when a security officer would respond that “we don't have fuel or our vehicle is faulty", or they may come after 3 hours that robbers have gone. The next thing is to ask you for unnecessary information.
poor health care system, there’s no professionalism. A friend of mine that was operated on due to an appendix some months ago took more than a month to recover while the one that was operated on in a private hospital took just 4 days to recover.
High Level of Poverty Rates: Yesterday when I was coming from work, about 4 young people were begging me for money to eat. It is hard to eat three balanced meals per day. Some people do not even care about a balanced diet these days because of the economic level of my country.
The roads are bad- it is very difficult for vehicles to move during or after rainfall.
Poor Infrastructure: Some places where I'm living do not have drainage. Some residents experience flooding when there's heavy downfall. Some houses do not have toilets, they have to get potty in their rooms, urine and defecate in the potty and dispose of it early in the morning.
How Politicians Impoverished My City
The biggest problem we have here is our politicians. They refuse to do the right things.
I heard last week that one of the popular roads was awarded by the State government to one of the top politicians in my city. Instead of the politician using the money judiciously for the project, he graded the road without putting anything there.
According to the news, the roads were completed a year ago but we the residents know that nothing has been done up till now. During the dry season, we experience dust everywhere, and during the rainy season, it is difficult for vehicles to move and human beings to walk.
That is how it happened in every department in my City. The man in-charge of building a new hospital siphoned the money. The project to build a new building for the only secondary school in the environment was embezzled by people in-charge.
After my findings, 96% of people that were in-charge of all these projects were politicians.
I stand up for success, and success is not achieved by merely making mouth, No room for laziness, no room for idleness. Success comes to the people who are desperately and consciously searching for it. When it seems unsuccessful or you smell failure around you, never discourage yourself from being successful.
“Discouragement and failure are the two surest stepping stones to success.” - Dale.
