The Yoruba people are a tribe in Africa and some part of the world such as Brazil, Cuba, United Kingdom, and El-Savaldo
The largest population of Yoruba people are found in the Southwest of Nigeria. they are also found in some parts of Congo, Benin Republic, Togo and Ghana.

The Origin of the name “Yoruba” is not well known, but there are theories of etymology that suggested the name was derived from Hausa word which means “cool.
Another theory suggested that Yoruba was coined out from Yariba by Fulani that came across Oyo people called Oyos.

“As an Ethnic description, the word ‘yoruba’ was first recorded in reference to Oyo empire. “ -Ahmed Bala

The movies I watched years ago about The Origin of Yoruba was about the man called “Oduduwa." Oduduwa ran away from his father because he was an idiot worshipper while his family were Muslim.
according to the article I read, “He migrated from the ancient city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia to ile-ife.”
he had sons and his sons were kings in most of the Yoruba land.

Yoruba People Love Entertainment

Yoruba people love entertainment, and that was the reason they made different types of drums for entertainment.
the following are the drums:
Talking drum (Gangan) This drum is called “Gangan" in Yoruba language. it is one of the important drum in Yoruba, and it is used for communication. A drummer has to learn the skills of this drum. it is one of the complicated drum in Yoruba. It could take time before one learn the skills of the drum.

Sakara Drum: I haven't seen the drum for years now. Sakara is used in some event like wedding.

Bata; It as Drum used to disseminate message of praise, divination, war and hope.
A set of Bata drum consist of three of different sizes.
there are many more drums used by Yoruba people.
in addition, 90% of drums are made by woods and animal skins.

Yoruba people are arranged in Hierarchy

We practiced extended family, that is the reason I can travel to great my cousins and aunts in another state because we are blood related.
The most aged man in the family is the head of family. Oldest woman cannot be a the head of family because a woman cannot be the head of a family no matter your age.

The king is the head of a community; if you're the father of the king, you have to respect him by prostrate.
whether the king is a young or old, everyone in the community must respect him.

Men prostrate and women knee down when greeting people that are older than them.

Aso Oke Is Our Tradition

The way suites and trousers are tradition attire to English, so also Aso Oke is our traditional attires.
that is the reason Yoruba traditional wedding! must have a touch of Aso Oke. The attire is not only used for wedding but other ceremonies in Yoruba land.
it is very important during coronation of a new king I'm Yoruba land.

Yoruba Believe in Deities

We have many Deities such as Sango (god of thunder), Ogun (god of iron), Iyemoja (mermaid), Esu Odara, Obatala and many more.

Iyemoja Festival (Mermaid)

Last year I witnessed Iyemoja festival in my community.
There were specialized group of worshippers designated for the festival; they all had children.
everything the wore were white- white clothes, white beats, and the pots in their hands were painted white.

One thing that surprises was that when the woman chanted, those ladies were singing.
Immediately there was a big wave in the sea for 20 minutes. Someone people said, they saw a mermaid while there was a wave, but I see nothing.
Some people who has been married for years without a baby went their to request for baby; Some people who have health challenges were given water to wash themselves, Some people brought 50 litters of gallons to carry the water, those that the goddess gave children brought the children to the festival and many more.
The place was like a popular market in my area, thousands of people came across the world for the festival.

I wasn't close to them because it looked fetish to me. that was the reason I couldn't see the mermaid because according to the history, the mermaid must come out from water that day.
it could have been better if they allow people to take pictures. you cannot take a picture of mermaid while she came out; anyone that guilty would face the consequences. that was what made people not to take her pictures.

A description of that particular mermaid a friend of mine that saw it said, “It was a perfect picture of scenes we watched on a movie. but, she's more beautiful than the one we saw on a movie."

Both men and women are skillful and industrious

We believe that hungry can make one to steal; that is the reason most Youruba engage in farming.

Identification Of individual By His/Her Culture and tradition

I was in the midst of different people sometimes ago; I didn't speak a word, and someone saw me and said, “You are a Yoruba man".
I was wondering because I haven't spoken a word; if I had, I would have said he knew through my intonation.
I did not dress like a typical Yoruba man, I dressed like English man- I a wore suit.
By the time I spoke, He said, “I prediction is right!"
How do you know?

He replied, “one can easily identify someone's tribe by looking at that person. there's a way Yoruba people looks like, there's a way igbo people looks like, there's is a way Korean people looks like. One can easily identify someone's tribe by looking.”
The following are the ways a particular group one belongs to: dressing, colour, foods, and intonation.

I stand up for success, and success is not achieved by merely making mouth, No room for laziness, no room for idleness. Success comes to the people who are desperately and consciously searching for it. When it seems unsuccessful or you smell failure around you, never discourage yourself from being successful.
“Discouragement and failure are the two surest stepping stones to success.” - Dale.
