Kyushu "Yamagoya Ramen" with Roast Pork and Soft Boiled Egg 😋

Walking out of the town centre of Ureshino Onsen, in Kyushu...

... and in search of a decent lunch-spot, we came upon a ramen restaurant on the main road approaching the bullet-train station: Yamagoya Ramen.

It looked like a truck stop cafe, but according to the website,

『九州筑豊ラーメン 山小屋』の店舗外観は山小屋のログハウスをイメージしており、創業店舗の佇まいを継承しております。
The exterior of Kyushu Chikuho Ramen Yamagoya is designed to resemble a log cabin, carrying on the appearance of the original founding store.

Either way, it looked inviting and not too crowded, so we went in and were immediately shown to a table by an ebullient waitress.

We both ordered the same dishes: "Mukashi ramen," which comes with chashyu (a slice of roast belly pork) and a soft boiled egg, and "gyouza" (pan-fried meat dumplings), which was served up in about ten minutes flat.

The ebullience of the waitress and the celerity of the service tended to confirm the assertion of the website that,

調理のスピード感、心地よい接客マナーを徹底しています。
great attention is given to speedy preparation and warm, courteous service.

In short it was just what we needed on a cold breezy day having not found anywhere particularly appealing to dine at in the town centre.

Hot, tasty, and highly recommended, especially with a bottle of beer to wash it down with, even if the said bottle is "Asahi Super Dry" rather than "Kirin Ichiban Shibori."

Yamagoya Ramen is a chain of ramen restaurants that began in a region of Kyushu known as "Chikuho," in a town called Kanda, in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1970.

Cheers!
