A Day's Trek from Mananeshwar temple to Hockey ground

The decision to visit Manan village was good because I have no idea how many days have passed since I stayed in the same place. According to our host @naveen.jogta today we will go down to the flowing stream whose name is Kyara. So after morning breakfast, we set out on a long descent with our hearts full of enthusiasm.

Walking down a steep mountain slope can be a pleasant experience while watching it on TV, but walking on your own can be a bit painful. While descending, the calves tremble as if bitten by a snake. Passing through apple orchards, I cross Kauthadu village and the beautiful temple situated there.

If you are in the mountains during the winter season and the sun is bright, then understand that you are living some of the most beautiful days of your life. Taking the warmth of the sun in our hearts, we reach Kyara River in about two hours. There are villages around here and there is some water in the river...there is current in the water. Because now that I have learned to swim, looking at the pond made of water, I feel like going and swimming. But in the next moment one realizes that if one goes into such cold water then death is certain.

After reaching Kyara Stream, we decide to go to Shillaru Hoki Ground via Manan village. Now we have to climb uphill from here which ends at the National Highway. It has been 5 kms while walking on the road and all the power in my legs has gone as if someone has taken out all the power through injection. The ascent is increasing and the breathing is getting faster...on top of that, sweat has also started dripping inside the warm clothes.

But we are also people with strong decisions. Be it climbing or descending, it is not going to stop so easily. We reach Manan village where the temple is closed these days but we enter the temple premises and have darshan from outside the temple. Made of a mixture of wood, stone and clay, this temple is dedicated to the local deity Maneshwar. There are many colorful paintings on the walls outside the temple which reflect the local culture.

After saying hello to Manan village, we are walking among the apple orchards and crossing from one village to another and moving towards our destination. In about next two hours we reach Shillaru situated on the National Highway where there is a hockey ground. Looking at the ground from the roadside. It is evening and along with the ground we witness the last rays of sunset falling in the valley.

We take a bus from Shillaru and come back to our place and spend the rest of the time talking about today's journey and warming ourselves by sitting in front of the stove. I hope you liked this little trip.
