Los Horrores de Caddo Lake | Movie review
Hello, everyone! I hope you're having a great weekend. Today I bring you a review (something I haven't done in a while) of a movie that really surprised me on Max: The Horrors of Caddo Lake (Caddo Lake).
¡Hola a todos! Espero que estén pasando un buen fin de semana. Hoy les traigo una reseña (un contenido que tenia tiempo sin hacer) de una película que me sorprendió bastante en Max: Los Horrores de Caddo Lake (Caddo Lake).
If you've read my previous posts, such as the one on Cloverfield or The Three-Body Problem, you know that I love stories that start out simple and end up blowing your mind with mysteries you don't see coming. This film, produced by M. Night Shyamalan, has exactly that "nothing is what it seems" feel to it.
Si han leído mis posts anteriores, como el de Cloverfield o El Problema de los 3 Cuerpos, saben que me encantan las historias que empiezan como algo sencillo y terminan volándote la cabeza con misterios que no ves venir. Esta película, producida por M. Night Shyamalan, tiene exactamente ese sello de "nada es lo que parece".
It all begins in a real and rather disturbing swamp on the border between Texas and Louisiana. The plot is divided into two strands: on the one hand, we have Paris (played by Dylan O'Brien), a boy tormented by the death of his mother in a very strange accident, and on the other hand, Ellie, a girl who has a terrible relationship with her mother and whose little sister mysteriously disappears in the lake.
At first, it seems like a typical disappearance drama or a small-town crime thriller, but as the minutes tick by, the lake begins to reveal that it hides something much deeper and... well, I don't want to spoil it for you, but get ready to question everything you're seeing.
Todo empieza en un pantano real y bastante inquietante en la frontera entre Texas y Luisiana. La trama se divide en dos hilos: por un lado tenemos a Paris (interpretado por Dylan O'Brien), un chico atormentado por la muerte de su madre en un accidente muy extraño, y por otro lado a Ellie, una chica que tiene una relación pésima con su madre y cuya hermanita desaparece misteriosamente en el lago.
Al principio parece el típico drama de desapariciones o un thriller policial en un pueblo pequeño, pero a medida que avanzan los minutos, el lago empieza a mostrar que esconde algo mucho más profundo y... bueno, no quiero hacerles spoilers, pero prepárense para cuestionar todo lo que están viendo.
At first, it may feel a little slow. It takes its time introducing the characters and their family dramas, and if you're looking for immediate action like in Agent Stone, you might get a little frustrated.
Caddo Lake is another character in its own right. It's claustrophobic, full of trees that look like hands reaching out of the water and a fog that makes your hair stand on end. It reminded me a lot of the feeling of isolation I felt watching the first seasons of The Punisher.
Al principio puede sentirse un poco lenta. Se toma su tiempo para presentar a los personajes y sus dramas familiares, y si vas buscando acción inmediata como en Agente Stone, quizás te desesperes un poquito.
El pantano de Caddo Lake es un personaje más, es claustrofóbico, lleno de árboles que parecen manos saliendo del agua y una niebla que te pone los pelos de punta. Me recordó mucho a esa sensación de aislamiento que sentí viendo las primeras temporadas de The Punisher.
Dylan O'Brien is incredible. He conveys the desperation of someone who knows something is wrong but no one believes him. The emotional connection with loss is what drives the entire film.
Dylan O'Brien es increíble, transmite esa desesperación de alguien que sabe que algo anda mal pero nadie le cree, la conexión emocional con la pérdida es lo que mueve toda la película.
You have to pay close attention to the dates and names because, when the pieces start to fall into place, the twist is one of those that leaves you screaming at the screen. It's been a long time since I've seen such a well-executed plot twist. This isn't a movie to watch while checking your phone. If you get distracted for five minutes, you'll lose track of the logic of what's happening, and the ending may leave you very confused.
Tienes que prestar mucha atención a las fechas y a los nombres porque, cuando las piezas empiezan a encajar, el giro es de esos que te dejan gritándole a la pantalla. Hacía tiempo que no veía un plot twist tan bien ejecutado, no es una película para ver mientras revisas el celular. Si te distraes cinco minutos, te pierdes el hilo de la lógica de lo que está pasando y el final puede dejarte muy confundido.
The Horrors of Caddo Lake was a pleasant surprise. It's one of those movies that, as soon as it ends, you want to watch again from the beginning to find all the clues you missed. It's not jump-scare horror; it's an emotional and dark science fiction thriller that leaves you thinking about family and destiny.

Los Horrores de Caddo Lake fue una grata sorpresa. Es de esas películas que, apenas terminan, tienes ganas de volver a ver desde el principio para encontrar todas las pistas que dejaste pasar. No es terror de saltos en el asiento, es un thriller de ciencia ficción emocional y oscuro que te deja pensando en la familia y el destino.
