Sweet Afternoon Treats: Our Simple Pasalubong Snack
Hello, wonderful Hivers of the @hiveph community. I hope you're all well and safe.

Today I want to share with you our afternoon snack which is something simple yet heartwarming, bread! But not just any bread, these were the pasalubong we bought yesterday for our family at home. We went out to run some errands, and on our way back, we decided to bring something home for everyone to enjoy.

We ended up buying two big pieces of bread, each worth 25 pesos, and they were totally worth it! My husband was actually the one who suggested we buy them because, as he said, “They look cute and like a mini cake”. And true as he said they were round, fluffy, and each one had a different filling inside.

He also loves these kinds of bread the most because of the sweet sugary toppings combined with margarine, which gives that perfect mix of flavor and texture.

We arrived home quite late yesterday, around 7 in the evening, so instead of having them right away, we decided to keep them for today’s snack. This afternoon, we finally enjoyed them with a cold drink on the side. A perfect little break in a not sunny but hot day. You get me? The weather is not really mainit "hot" but it's maalinsangan.

The first bread, to be honest, is one of those local favorites that I don’t really know the name of, haha! I just know it by its look with a purple filling and taste. It's a soft bread and sweet inside.

The second one, however, is very familiar to all of us Filipinos, the ensaymada! It’s a classic bread topped with margarine and sugar, and inside it has a sweet mung bean (monggo) filling. The combination of soft bread, sweet filling, and buttery topping is truly comforting.

We all loved the treat. Really simple, affordable, and so very Filipino. I’m sure many Filipino Hivers can relate to enjoying these same breads as snacks or pasalubong.

That’s all for today’s little food story. Thanks for reading this far, and until my next post!

A simple bread pasalubong is really part of a Filipino childhood, I think hehe. It's our typical pasalubong from whoever comes home. Thanks for reading and for leaving a comment. It means so much to me!
