Bringing Home the Bacon: Municipal Festival of Talents DaMath Competition
Hello my dear Hivers of this community. I hope you're all well and safe.

Annually, there is an interschool event organized to showcase the different talents and skills of the learners from all grade levels.

It is inclusive of all the subject areas. There events specific for Mathematics only and that's where we joined. We have trained our learners for a DaMath Competition.

We were not quite sure about winning, what we just really want is to expose our learners to these kind of competitions.

Our school is kind of located far from the town proper and going to the mountainous area of our town so they seldom join this kind of competition.

We had two weeks of training only prior to the event. We had it every afternoon after class. About and hour a day and that's it.

The day of the competition arrived. We brought our learners to the venue. Waited for some instructions and the game finally started.

As it's not allowed to look inside the game room. We, coaches were just waiting outside. And since one of my co-teacher who should be coaching is on leave, I have to look after the players alone.

My co-teacher who's with me in the event was also coaching another learners for the Sudoko event.

The players played for about 2 matches in the morning. Which the grades 1 to 3 luckily won.

We had lunch before the next matches were done. During lunch the children talked about how their games went. While listening to them, I was happy because more than taking it as a competition, they actually had fun during their matches. They even gained friends from their opponents.

When lunch was over, we had to go back to the playing venue. The game resumed, winner vs. winner. I couldn't contain my emotions, I watched them play at the window of the game room.

I saw how they fought, the looks in their faces when they ate a chip from the opponent. The creased forehead when having a hard time during the game. But it was all worth it!

Our learners bagged the championship for grades 1 to 3 of the Damath Competition! I didn't see that coming, but I believed in our players. They have their hearts in the game.

The exposure only experience goal turned to be the limelight for these learners. We were happy with their achievement and so proud of it. They brought pride to the school, and more so made their families proud who were not expecting anything from them back home.

They went home with proud smiles and a medal and certificate they never thought they'd bring back home.
That's all for today. Thanks for reading this far. Til my next post!
